Just wanted to say hi even though i've been a member for a while now .

A while ago i was involved in a crash that wrote off my previous car . So i'm now in the postion where i need a new one. I have narrowed it down to the Ford Fiesta , Honda Civic Type R and Alfa Romeo 147 Gta.

I was wondering if anybody could offer a comparsion between these cars

Many thanks

Ade Sheridan

Well, the ST is in a different league to the other two??
I'd say out of the three I'd go for a Focus ST!!
The Honda is a reliable, well built car but AFAIK doesn't do much below 25,000rpm. No seriously you have to rev it to get anything out of it.
The 147 is a nice car but suffers terribly from understeer and is virtually undriveable in the wet. Also they are quite unreliable (not the engine though) and depreciate like mad.
Whatt is it you want the car to do?
Are you after performance , economy or cheapness?

Basicly i looking for performance, my last car was a honda accord type r, same power as the civic but as there is more weight it was not as crisp of the line and didn't handle as well. Have set a budget of roughly £10k to get myself a fun car that can be used on a daily basis

all 3 cars are in a different league as the ST only have 150BHP, while the honda got 200BHP and the alfa 240bhp so can't compared really each other. the alfa is a great ca in my views rare as well but depreiciation on it is crazy also handling is not the best due to torque and too much power on the from wheel also fuel comsuption is mad and also insurance. on the plus side this car performance is very good was one of the fastest on the straight when it came out as it was the most powerful of her class now there better out there but still that V6 engine sound so nice and that car look very nice as well outside or inside even so the built quaility is not great!
the Honda Type R is a good car even so the last version is faster but the news one look well funky in term of design looklike a spaceship.from I read ur a budget of around 1OK so that be the previews version which was a great car who handle well and performance is excellent but always need to revs it up to have the power so can u live with this car as a everyday car? also its noisy as well and hard ride and equipment can be poor on some model as well.
The ST would be the cheapest to run of the lot but also the slowest one but in exchange u have a good equipment as standard and a great handling as well and there lots to find for sale around can even get a new one for that price! down side can be noisy on motorway due to short gear ratio and no 6 speed either but other than that its all good. have u also consider another car for that money?

I got a polo GTI and have to say its faster than the ST but doesn't handle as good but with 1.8T is more econmical to run and easy to tuned if needed! after depending is ur looking for a diesel or a petrol engine car as well. there lots of cars u can buy like vauxhaull astra turbo,or about clio 182 there fast, second hand impreza can't go wrong with that one, pug 206 180GTI faster than the ST ,mini cooper S keep there value well but lots around. there so many choice around to choose from

I know a lot of people are saying the type r has to be revved high, but no more so than the ST, and once you get there it's like a rocket. I am sure you are personally aware of the sort of power delivery given that you had an
Accord.

If depreciation and warranty isn't an issue for you I'd probably get the Civic Type R, would consider the Clio 182 also. Like Babyboom said, if you can get a mini cooper s for under 10k, they are good fun too!

The ST is a nice car but it sounds to me you are looking for more power and you may be disappointed in the long run. Let us know what you decide!

out of the 3 you mention i would choose the type r.
alfa romeo..........no not for me!! unreliable! plus i think they are flipping ugly!
the fabia is a good car, fast for a diesel!!
the clio is french, nuff said on that one lol
wouldnt entertain the mini cooper s as its girly in my oppinion and it has a tiny boot.

if the fiesta had come with near 200bhp standard then it would be the winner over the type r
