Just a general post really, i really would like to mod my car to make it faster and just for the fun of it really but i can’t see away around it without voiding my warranty.
You've only got to look around the forum to see loads of you have mods.... didn’t it bother you that you no longer have a warranty??
I just can’t bring myself to do it, I’ve had my ST since July 07 from new and to throw that away for a car that’s nearly 7 months old in my eyes would be stupid.
Just wondering what your opinions are.
Cheers Greg

There are a few things you can get away with without affecting your warrany. with mine i could lower. The dampers are only covered for a year, springs 3 yrs i think. But then again if you get a good set of lowering springs they have one anyway. Alot of modifications depend on your dealer. I took mine in with it lowered, exhaust, seats, lights to get the powersteering sorted. They did it under warranty. Even though they could have argued that the pipe they replaced was damaged when i had my exhaust fitted. Best bet is if you want to do something check with your dealer. Or make the modification and if anything goes wrong put it back to standard

did all those mods to mine cos they were not taking anything under warranty anyway so didn't care about it after. but then again be more than unlucky than urs have engine problem while still under warranty
just put a k&n57i induction kit on it yes it will void my warranty but if i have to take it in then i will just put the standar one back on it takes 30 mins to put it on , entirely up to you mate really depends wot you want by modifying it, the induction kit makes it more responsive increases bhp and also a incredible sound
dont forget if you do modify to insure it i paid an extra £50 to insure my induction it
i have a brand new k&n57i induction kit for sale still in box never fitted if you were interested let me know PM me
The other thing to bear in mind is that mods don't totally void the warranty. The general rule though is that if something goes wrong that is related to what you've modified then they can refuse to repair it under warranty, if it's something thats unrelated to your mods then the warranty remains valid.
You can change your exhaust, just change the backbox and have a connector put on the new and old one so that you can change them. Thats what me and ChrisC have.
Indeed. You can just about make out the connecting plate in this picture here:
What this means, is that before you go in for a service or any repairs you can switch the backboxes over easily and put the standard one back on. It's just a couple of bolts, and you can switch them over in ten minutes.
Sweet cheers for that, does the back box give any perfomance gain or just make it sound better? I know it didnt on my old 106, in fact i think it reduced power lol.
