I really need to take my side stripes off as they are starting to peel in certain places. Whats the easiest and cleanest way to do this!?

From what people have said in the past, warm them up gently with a hairdryer (don't try and take them off when cold, or you'll damage the paintwork!). Then get hold of a bit of the vinyl and gently, gently work them off. Afterwards, use Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover to remove any residual glue remaining, and then you can polish the area afterwards.

yes that what I did to debadge my old car. Use hairdryer to heat up the glue then peel off gently and finish it off with polish

perfect - cheers Chris. That worked a treat - though does look strange with no stripes. Need to get them refitted soon!

Glad they came off ok for you, is there any paint fade there at all which you can see mate?

I am tempted to go back to naked... I can't make up my mind but my concern is whether it will have any noticeable difference to the surrounding paint...

I will probably wait a few months before I get them refitted as does look smart without them and would probably go back to the same - plain white as I havent seen any other colours/styles that look good on performance blue.

Obviously when I removed them there appeared to be a lot of difference in the paint but as soon as I gave her a good wash and quick polish you couldn't see any difference! JJST have you just got sides stripes of OTT too?

Personally I'd leave them on as I do think it looks nicer. But if you were to take them off, then as long as it's done following the steps above then you shouldn't have any problems. Someone on here did that to their OTT stripes that they'd had on for over two years and they couldn't tell the difference on the paintwork.

ah right thanks for that, I just have the side stripes. The main reason I am thinking of taking them off is they are not completely straight on the drivers side and it annoys me that people probably think it looks daft if they pull up on my right at the lights
Probably just me being a bit vain but it's so annoying!
