As of the 13th of March 2008, road tax is changing. Now my mate has a cheap cheerful low emissions clio disiel and it cost £32 for the whole year. However the bigger the engine and the more emissions it pumps out the more it costs. Now I've heard that a 3 litre Porsche is in the £300 area for 12 months. So has anyone got road tax since the change that can tell me roughly how much it was?

Cheers.

Ah thats what I thought it would be actually. Probably speculation, but someone at work told me it will have gone up from that since the changes on the 13th. Hope not!

The tax bands are all changing from April 2009. Instead of A-G, there will be totally new bands of A-M. Under the new system the current Fiesta ST will be in Band I which will cost £205 from April 2009, and £210 from April 2010. Since we know that the next ST will be a 1.6 rather than 2 litre, then it's emissions may be lower than the current one, so may end up falling in a lower band.

because of new low emission most new engine going to have smaller capacity but therefore will have turbo or compressor so its not all bad

Alastair Darling made a great show of his 'gas guzzler/4x4' tax increase, but what he didn't tell us was that most other family car taxes would be going up as well. That was buried in the small print, like everything else this lying government do.

£205??? You are feckin joking! This is not fair.. I bought my car before the new tax system came into force so how can they do this? Older cars stayed on engine size so why does the old system not apply in this case. God I hate Gordon Brown... what has he got against motorists? Labour is the new conservative. I might as well vote for them.
