my mate let me take his C2 VTR out for a spin last night. Clearly not as quick as the ST, doesn't handle as well, but the brakes on the C2 were so much better than the ST its untrue. Allowing him to gain more speed on stopping distances etc. I know the ST has front and rear discs, but the C2 only has front but the stopping is amazing. Really dis-impressed with the ST brakes now ive seen the C2. Anyone else test driven one?

Didn't think the brakes were that good, perhaps more 'sudden' but the ST's brakes are ok, just more progressive, rather than snap your head back.

I had a C2 but only a Furio (1.4) before my ST. But I agree with both of you about brakes. On one hand the ST doesnt seem to re-act as quick as i like but then again i dont get whiplash when i brake!! All depends what you're used to as well suppose. Every car will feel different to your own.

the thing we must remember folks is the c2 is a citroen.

I liked the C2 VTS when I test drove it but it felt cheap inside and was too small (no boot!)

The brakes were good and the performance was there but you had to work it harder than the ST.....

I used to have a Citroen Saxo VTR which had full disc brakes. trouble is the brakes where absolutely pants - Crashed the Car, air bags did'nt work and it was 2 years old. The replacement Ford focus whihc has rear drums brakes where much better.

Before deciding on a ST i took a C2 VTS out for a spin and the brakes not as responsive as the ST.

Also a coincidence is that when I went to test drive the ST it was the same sales man that sold me the Saxo VTR a number of years earlier (He had changed dealer ships) . He admitted that it did'nt surpise him That I crashed me saxo and citroen had not improved the brakes on the C2 , he also pointed out that Citroen had attracted a lot of younger inexperienced drivers with the cheapness of the C2 VTR/VTS plus the free insurance.

1 last point , on utube there is a top gear clip of the ST v C2 VTS. The ST shafts the VTS even with fat Clarkson driving it.

My advice is if you buy a VTS then make a will as when you hit something the whole car will fall apart.

Yep the VTR has the same brakes as the VTS, Glad I was'nt driving a VTS as I would'nt be the now proud owner of a Fiesta ST. I would have been worm food.

Its worth mentioning that theres 2 other clips on utube from 5th gear puttin fthe ST against a Corsa SRI and a mitsubishi colt turbo. The ST comes on on top with both races.

the VTS is not a very good car in many way. It maybe small but still its an heavy car and having a short base its nervous trough corner and braking feel unstable, also vthe enigne is only a 1.6 125 bhp not that fast therefore and also interior is tiny and cheap built, boot very tiny and only a 4 seaters car

I got the full leather etc.. in my ST and I would never in one million years ever ever think of getting a c2 even if it had 50BHP more.

If you look at the video which one do you think looks better ? Fiesta wins hands down with build quality.

also did heard that those air vent in the c2 were falling off sometime while driving but don't no if its true or not but thats doesn't created confidence when hearing those type of stories

I had a lot of trouble with my rear disc calipers as you all know. Anyway a new caliper sorted it and the brakes are as good as when new if not better and seem to be getting sharper all the time. Brakes are hugely different on all cars. You can buy a brake hose line kit for ST and this should make them sharper as the hoses are braded steel and don't compress - I'm no expert but you can if you wish improve them. Noticed last night in my handbook that the ST has "emergency braking" and cleverly will note how much pressure you apply on the footpedal and if it detects an emergency will apply maximum braking all round.

I owned a C2 VTS for 2yrs before my ST and trust me the ST is miles in front. The VTS had to be pushed really really hard due to it only havin a 1.6 engine and if you wanted anymore than 2 people in the car then it was a bit of a joke. I agree the brakes were good, but that certainly didn't make up for all the squeaks and rattles when you were driving and the tin sound when you closed the door!
Saying that it was good fun to drive. Not an ST tho
