hi all my name is carol and i am new to the site!
i joined hoping somebody could help me out as i do not know what is wrong with my ford fiesta.
the car revs up and down on its own - not when moving just when the car is still. sometimess when the car is going really slow the engine will cut out due to this revving up and down.
i have had it to a garage 3 times and they have told me it was the air flow valve or something - this has now been changed twice and the problem is still there?
any help appreciated. thanx

Mines a brand new XR4/ST and it does the same thing, I'm going to mention it when it goes in for it's first service.

Must be to do with the ECU in some way I reckon.

I had this exact same problem with my old ford fiesta and clio. I think it's something to do with the plugs and leads. Maybe they need a clean or replacing to stop the lumpyness in the idle. I dont think its ECU related.

Could possibly be your idle control valve. I had a similar problem on a saxo i had. It did it to the point of stalling and they replaced it and fixed the problem.

My idle speed has a mind of it's own too. Sick of mentioning it to the Ford garage.
