Our car normally gets short runs and does around 27mpg, but on the 130 mile run to Criccieth, North wales, I nursed it a bit and got 43 mpg. Even on the 'let's go somewhere' trips it never dropped below 40, and coming home it rose again to 42. M/way speeds were always up around 55 to 80 mph, and the boot was full of holiday clobber. Loads of easy torque, super-relaxed driving. Most impressed!

That's excellent then, it shows it can be done.

aaahh criccieth, lovely little place! was the cadwalders ice cream shop open?!

The Cadwalladers ice cream shop was open and we called in after our second visit to the Blue China Cafe, highly recommended! We were staying about a mile to the west of Criccieth in a cottage overlooking the bay, bloody marvellous.
We took a trip into Pwllheli one day - God, it has become badly run down since we were last there (ahem, in the 60's..).
