Hi everyone, been a member on here for a while but not really posted much so thought it was about time i did.
I got my ins renewal through for my this week from Direct Line which was £775. I'm 24 with 5yrs no claims and 3 points on my licence so thought it wasn't too bad but could be cheaper. Had a go on that Tesco Compare website and managed to get the price down to £392 with Privilage. Nearly half price.
So i phoned up Direct line told them i wanted to cancel from the end of my policy and they did the normal, you are a good customer why are you leaving rubbish. They asked what i'd been quoted by other companies, so i told the price i got from Privilige. The guy on the phone didn't even think about it and just said they would match it! Put me on hold for 2mins and came back with the exact same price but with guarenteed car hire on top.
Thought it was an Absolute joke and proves how much insurance companies are robbing us blind. To be fair i agreed there and then but just wanted to show everyone that it is true, if you shop around and haggle then you can get your insurance for a lot lot less.

It does always help, Sometimes i just made up a random amount and see if they could match that. 9 times out of 10 they can. It is a joke as most of the time people don't even claim on their insurance so the companys make loads of money.

Given you a little green 'o' aswell as you haven't got one.

Privilage are underwritten by directline - so I am not surprised that they matched the quote. I did the same but instead of getting another company to match i used Quidco.com and got £100 cash back,as that was what they offering at the time, taking my insurance down to £219. They are still doing cashback at £70 for privilage, but the trick is to get the tesco quote (as its cheaper than going direct), save it and then re-log on via Quidco or one of the cash back sites.

sounds pretty good, give Adrian Flux a call back, they said to me they will match any quote I'm offered - only reason I didn't go with them in the end was because the missus job perk thingy got me a matched quote and 0% on instalments and Adrian Flux can't do anything about the instalments.

I've just renewed mine with Tesco, £340 doesnt seem too bad, but then again I have full no claims etc etc so its probably about right.

There's no way I would pay some of the prices you younger owners are paying here just to own an ST, completely not worth it.

they said they will match any like for like quote so they will get another call. the installments dont affect me though as ill just pay it up front! i think £301 is bloody good considering my points!

yeah maybe try and get them to give u a mod for free - Adrian Flux are meant to be good with that like if you add a k&n or flexipipe etc. I was skint but wouldn't pay the ridiculous apr adrian flux were asking, so when the 0% was offered I took their hands off

I've been with privilege for just under 3 years and they have always been one of the cheapest. I was with Direct line before them and enquired why they were charging £200-300 less than DL who underwrite privilege. They would not price match and said the profit margins were different. The problem with privilege is that they are not mod friendly. They wanted 6.9% of the premium plus £200 on the excess for no more than 10% power...
