Hi had my ST for about two months now and i have got a couple of problems and wondered if anyone else had experienced these or have any advice on them.

Problem 1) The alloy wheels are starting to go a little bit strange in places kind of flaky. Its not noticeable from a distance but if you run your finger round the wheel you can feel it. I am assuming the wheels were probably reconditioned before i got the car (or the previous owner didnt mark them!) Will the wheels be covered under warranty in this case?

Problem 2) The car doesnt always seem to perform as it should. Occasionally it feels flat accelerating in 3rd gear as if its blowing hot and cold somedays.

has anyone experienced any of these problems before?

Thanks

Martyn

Hi Martyn.

How old is your ST? I would say if you are concerned about anything and its still under warrenty, get it checked out.

1. The wheels may or may not have been recond, depending on how well they were looked after. I suggest giving them a good clean and if you are still worried, get someone to have a quick look at them.

2. I know what you mean, cars seem to have a time of the month!! I did notice this in the past sometimes but it seems much better since I had an ECU update (to rectify a problem of my ST not starting)

Sorry I can't be of more help.

The car is 13 months old

the wheels are cleaned very regularly (i swear i spend more time cleaning the car than driving it!)

Its not like th car has a time of the month! This seems to happen most days. I could drive say for a bit and its ok then i stop at traffic lights then its not as good performance wise....

i had a similar problem with my 56 plate st i took it to my dealer and got a mechanic to come out with me then i took the wifes down and he drove them back to back,i noticed a major differance in performane but he however did not(shock horror).i sold it not long after and now have another one and may i say its in another league.that said i recall a thread about this at a later date saying about getting the ecu looked at and also that the engine needs to be reving constantly at around 6000rpm for approx 15 mins to get the hugo sensors hot and the catalytic converter hot.take it in and get it addressed.one other thing try to avoid supermarket 95 ron crap fuel(yes i know its not easy at the moment with rocketing unleaded prices)try 98 ron for a spell, total excellum,bp ultimate,v power, and see if you notice a differance....i have.

That's why i got rid of mine, in the morning on the way to work it would drive like a Fiesta with a 2.0 engine in, any other time it was about the same as a 1.4 and sounded like a Diesel.
Don't miss it one bit

Metal pedals and the silver door closure handles, that's it.

I've just hit 277 miles on this tank of fuel and I'm just coming on to half a tank.

The car is loosening up beautiful now, it was very stiff.
Aparently they are better after their 1st service.

I just love it!

Yep it's all down to the rubbish ECU the cheap ignition system and the catalyst being under the car not bolted to the exhuast manifold.
Everything has to be just right to get the performance.
