He didn't like the fact that the was so hard on the suspension (as he's an old man ) He loves the TDCI for all round drive and comfort and also MGP but i'm pretty sure he will expand on this... i heard mentioned about chipping it also?

I found it a very poorly executed/cheaply engineered/rushed model.
Everything about it was cheapened.
The performance was extremely poor considering it had a Mondeo 2.0 engine under the bonnet. I have driven 2.0 Mondeos and Mazda MX-5s and they really shift, I was very un-impressed. The performance was no better than my previous Focus 1.8 Zetec and the handling was nowhere near as good.
The suspension is so hard that actually the handling is poor on anything except a perfectly smooth race track, something britain's roads aren't. There's just no give so you end up getting skitted off the line you were on, even worse in the wet. Understeer understeer understeer.
The main reason was the way the engine didn't respond to what I wanted it to do though, I really hated it.
The TDCi is a completely different car and not to be compared at all to the ST other than everything the TDCi does it does well, whereas the ST is completely the opposite.

its a shame dave that you did,nt get on with your st,my back is fine at the moment and i am 6 years older than you .i own a red 07 plate as you had and even though i say so myself its a dam site better all round than the black 56 plate i had,i am giving it a second chance as you did and i love it to be honest, there is only one gripe i have on the st and thats the lack of sixth gear as on the motorway it needs it as it gets noisey, apart from that it ticks all the boxes for me i love it and yes i would have another one,but as the saying goes each to their own.

fair enough, would you consider the new ST out next year maybe ? I like mine does everything I need, yep needs a sixth and a bit noisy in cabin, inside it is a bit uninteresting ford like, I have a few chrome bits so a bit nicer but all neat and tidy and I went for the blue interior so it wouldn't be dark and dull, I think with a few BHP more and certainly better tyres than the PZero would be different and better car. Also the P0 are rock hard so maybe that doesn't help the harsh ride although I think it rides well but the P0 don't like greasy or wet roads or "cold" roads. I don't like the fact that you can not see the headlight height adjustment switch without moving your head and this is unsafe to try and do while driving.
