£24k for a 1-series?! Is it gold plated or something?! Jesus! What model did she get then Chris? Please don't tell me its a 116...

Dude - you could buy an Evo with that money, if you shopped around it probably wouldn't have to be the base 260 either. Or you could get the Golf GTi with the DSG gearbox.

lol it was - or in fact still is the 120i, but with lots of stupid options on it... waste of money me thinks.. lol. yes, i know you could get an evo, but this is my gf's mother we're talking here. she is 100% bmw /merc, she is a teacher in a private school, and you dont tend to get middle aged (and a bit) private school teachers driving evo's! lol

Funnily enough, my mum also works in a private school (she's assistant bursar or something) and we were having a similar discussion over the weekend as my dad was trying to convince her to buy my uncle's Harley. I don't think her turning up to work on that would go down too well at her school either...

Still, £24k on a BMW 120i just beggars belief. I could just about justify spending that on a 3 series, but not on something that is, essentially, the same as a Focus.

Thats when you are more worried about keeping up with the Jones's (and not literally) than having fun in a car.

I wouldn't say no to any of the M-variant Beemers...

I'm trying to get a good friend of mine who works for BMW, well Mini, to blag me an M something for my wedding day.

Cheers Pink! The wedding's not for ages yet, probably next September or so. Me and the other half have to save up the small fortune its gonna cost us first!

An ST guard of honour would be, err, different...

That top one is quality, particularly the bit in small print about the prices!

It really amazes me the number of moronic people that have spent like £18k on a base 116i, when for that money you could've got a near top of the range model of just about any other hatchback out there. I bet they're chuffed when they're sat there with no alloys, no CD player, no air-con, probably wind-up windows ffs, but that all important badge on the bonnet. Tossers. Oh, but its rear wheel drive they all say. Who gives a shit? Most of the owners probably wouldn't know the difference between understeer and oversteer if it came up and slapped them with a copy of the Daily Mail!
