does anyone know how much it would cost from ford to buy another stereo for the facelifted ST 06 plate - sony 6006

yet again, it has eaten another cd, gonna try and get a new one. also does anyone know how much ford charge to fix them?

The 6006 isn't a Sony unit but regardless if its an 06 plate it should still be under warrenty so get them to do it for free

If you dont get it fixed mate, my advice would be to not even bother with the standard Ford unit again. I swapped mine for a Sony and not only is it a better stereo (MP3, Bluetooth), but it raises the quality of your standard apeakers also.

A much better sound overall, and stereos are quite cheap now compared to what they used to be.

what is the Sony one called?

The one that Ford give as standard with the ST now is a combined Sony mp3/cdplayer/stereo, and the model number is CDX-FS307JD. According to someone on here who asked before, they apparently cost £650 if bought new from Ford.

You would be able to fit it yourself as the connections are identical to the existing one, but you may have to pay the dealer to upgrade your CAN network for the cluster display and the GEM module for the Bluetooth functionality. The stereo will work as soon as you connect though. People who've had a Sony one put in in the past have said that it will cost about an hours labour for a Ford dealer to do this.

cant see how ford can justify £650 for it.

Took it to Ford today, got it booked in for Friday. They're gonna take stereo, and send it off to either be replaced or mended. Saw one in show room though, with new sony stereo, very nice! want one of them, lol! Also found out car is still under warranty, so very happy!

I bought the Sony BTMX 2500, an awesome piece of kit. I got it on a mega deal from Dixons on-line £65. A steal.

Its fully Bluetooth ready and lets you stream mp3's direct from my mobile.

I bought the double din adapter for £15, job done, I'll post of pic of it later.

Took car to Ford today, they are gonna replace my stereo with the same one, gonna take a week to get it. Asked about updating it to a Sony (the one in the new ST) and they said it would be £350 plus VAT and he told me not to bother as they have the same problem as the Ford 6006 stereo. At least it'll be fixed, fingers crossed, i am so pleased car was still under warranty.

Yep saves spending your own money. Got the 6006 in my car no problems YET???

My 6006 keeps wanting the security code everytime I turn it on.

This is the second one, the first one was replaced under warranty for exactly the same thing, cars not even a year old!!

Tell them to check the power feed is correct before they replace again
