You could do it a bit at a time to save money.

I would go for a cat back system first, then change the manifold then finally get rid of the cat (if you feel you still need to after the exhaust & manifold)

Yup, the problem with getting rid of the cat is that if you get pulled up by the and get emissions tested, which they sometimes do, then you will be in trouble for it.

Yes that's the other problem. If you leave the cat off then it WILL fail it's mot - so you've then got the problem of putting the cat back on, which will be fairly complex to do.

You may not get pulled for being too loud but you might well get pulled and them do an emissions check on your car... you will get points for this and a massive fine if they find out your car has been de-cat.

I've been pulled up by a road side vehicle check and they threw an emissions rod up the exhaust to check it as well as checking my tires and all my lights.

If you are going to do this... then be warned and in my view... it's really not worth it... get a sports cat and save the bother of it being illegal and having to put it back on every 12 months.
