Pacman83 Registered: 17/03/08 Posts: 779	Good job I checked my engine oil this morning ! I have done 4k since new and I admit that it's been a few weeks since I did a dip stick check. It was barely showing on the tip of the stick !! If you haven't checked yours, do so NOW. _________________________ Jon. 01fiesta Fiesta Fan Registered: 30/01/08 Posts: 146 Loc: Central Scotland	When driven hard, the oil may seep past the seals, thus burning it along with the petrol - the nature of the ST means it is often driven hard! Alternatively, filling it up every 2500 or so miles (or 2000 if you ran it in for the 1st thousand) suggests more serious engine problems. _________________________ MX5 1.8 Sport Might have the wrong forum here...

Niburu Registered: 01/06/07 Posts: 715 Loc: Manchester	It seems that the ST has a habit of burning or losing oil when new. I do check my oil every month or so and its not lost any so far. It is a bit hard to read when you have fresh oil just after a service, due to the cleanliness and transparency of the oil. As soon as you drive a few 100 miles however it becomes a little darker and easier to read.

Niburu Registered: 01/06/07 Posts: 715 Loc: Manchester	The oil is fairly dark at the moment but always seems to read above the max line, even though the correct amount of oil is in the sump. Also, I have noticed that you don't get a good reading on the first go, you have to wipe the dipstick and dunk back in and out and then read it. On most occasions when you just pull it out once to read it, there is no oil on the dipstick at all _________________________ Escort 1.6GLE, Escort 1.3, Fiesta 1.3, Fiesta ST!

sasst Fiesta Mad Registered: 10/08/07 Posts: 355	i found that after a couple k miles after my service it drinks oil, but have been told theres only 350mm from the bottom of your dip stick to the top. so next time you check your oil, if its near the bottom, just stick in 350mm and see where it comes on your dip stick.
