Bloody hell. Is there any damage to the chassis or exhaust or is it just the body work?

I can not open the boot but looking from inside the slam panel looks bent but I think it should pull out once the bodyshop gets the boot open. I was only reversing at a regualar parking speed no heavy acceleration so just shows how soft and crumply new cars are to absorb the energy....keeps us safe inside but costs more to fix..........just mad with myself for doing it!

You must have been well upset

My car went on its own little adventure and ended up kissing the back of another car (she's a floozie!!) but luckily the damage wasn't too bad. I never got it fixed because it was too expensive and it doesn't show enough.
By the looks of it, its just bumper and panel damage and shouldn't have touched the chassis.

got a mate who has another mate with a little bodyshop so about £450 labour and £500 parts ...... looks like a new boot lid, bumper and bits plus the slam panel needs pulling out

Sorry to see/hear this! I reversed mine into a metal door that was left open on a skip a few months ago so I kinda know how it feels. Hope it all works out cheaper than expected for you

Damn Dave, it's so easily done though. I've reversed into one of those stupid green ones at Asda once but luckily it was bendy and didn't damage my car. I also did it again to a steel bollard that ran around the carpark but was below my mirror view and I just touched it, thats left a nice scratch on the side of my rear bumper but luckily nothing else. It happens to everyone, don't beat yourself up over it.

If you go through the insurance then i'd take a bammer to the back window as they replace the window you currently have in a new tailgate so i'd get the new glass also.

Let us know how you get on and I hope it's all resolved before TRAX, if not then just bring what ever you want along, maybe even your bike

- shameful of a mod to suggest such action on a public forum

Still - insurance companies are thieving scum

Steve, when my sister did the same they used the same glass... I was really shocked at this tbh!!! I'm not suggesting a hammer be took to the back window... don't be silly... that would be unlawful!!!

If you read it carefully it says "bammer"

Sorry to hear that that's happenned Dave. I think most people have done something similar at times, most the time you get away with it, but it's one of those things that once in a blue moon you'll get major damage. Hopefully you will manage to get it fixed and looking nice again in no time.

as i am shelling out of my own cash for this repair the window will be reused and the guy doing the job as a special window guy doing that but as it has to be glued in costs about £40

Not too bad really... if your paying yourself then you'll be wanting to recoup as much parts as possible.
