was just wondering what the standard speakers in the st are like....the one im getting has the new sony cd player and was just wondering if anyone knows what the sound system is like and if its good enough to worry about other mods before this....

if the speakers are the same as the ones in mine a facelift (07 reg)6006-cdc then well you should be ok mine are spot on as long as you adjust the bass and treble settings and have the volume nice and high.

yeh i must admit the standard speakers in the ST are pretty good! can turn it up high and still get a good quality!

I find them pretty good, not got the Sony stereo either. I'm sure yours will be good. First car I haven't changed the speakers etc.

standard speakers are brill id say, ive taken the bass out of mine, as ive put in one sub for a bit of extra kick and sounds the nuts, for a standard system with a sub (en alpine headunit).

thats good to know...been out today and booked it in for the window tinting and not even got the car yet lol just hope the salesmans definte guarantee of 1st sept comes through

The Sony unit in my ST is great.
Just as well, anything over 60 mph needs a good system ! The GGR CAIS, Flexi and the Piper box has made sure I never drop off at the wheel !

al stick to this place and see how it goes....only £50 dearer than the factory price so suppose thats not that bad....the guy in the dealer will have a heart attack if i go back to him with anything else wanting changed lol

The Sony system in the ST is far superior to the old standard 6006cdc unit. It's not only the headunit that's changed but the speakers themselves too. They used to be Visteon but are now Alpine I believe

thats good to know about the speakers...dont like the old head unit anyway reminds me of my transit van lol , yeh i know thats how im goin for aftermarket tints, used this guy before and hes explained to me all the legal nonsense so ill just stick to just under the % to save any hassle if get pulled over

With regards tints, the legal limit is 30% tint for the front side windows. Given that normal glass doesn't allow 100% light through anyways, this limits the amopunt that you can legally have.

You'll find that the standard front windows on the ST are already tinted enough to have you on the borderline of legality. Anything more than standard on mine is illegal. I've tried a light meter on them and they show 35% light transmission, so even the faintest tint will be illegal for sure.

Dont know why everyone panics about window tints. Most the time when the old bill are driving the opposite direction they wouldn't get a chance to turn round to follow anyway. And if they are parked up, you might have enough time to put them down if you spot them in time, if not, 9/10 they dont bother and if they do, just put your windows down before they pull you over and when asked, tell them you dont have any. Job done!

sounds good in theory but they look for reasons to pull u where im from, know of a mate who got told to remove his at side of a road and they followed my cousin the other day to pull him over as his spacing between the numbers on the reg was too close only cos he has a subaru they just look for reasons so id rather do without the hassle tbh
