Autoglym Super Resin Polish is good I find, plus it's easy to use. If I'm really going for a good shine then I'll use Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine and Extra Gloss Protection afterwards.

I find that Mer gives a longer lasting shine than Autoglym super resin, but you need more time, as you do need to put a bit more effort in. Also, Mer isn't one that you can really use in hot sunshine.

Meguiars-Meguiars-Meguiars-Meguiars-Meguiars-Meguiars (wax/polish/wash/mitts - everything....)

Use Gold Class for all in one polish/wax or you can buy the seperates ie cleaner/polish/wax (carnuba)

products are first class despite being pretty dam hard to remove without a lot of elbow grease !

All you need is Gold Class Polish and Gold Class wash (hardly need to use much wash so will last for ages) that will be sufficent for the cars lifetime.

I have to say I am big fan BUT the Collonite Wax is superior to the Meguiars Carnuba wax, it lasts for ever being a paste and the water just falls clean off-awsome !

I agree with Chris here. Auto Glym Super Resin Polish is great value and the results are excellent.

meguiars is the liquid wax, Collonite is paste (very waxy !) any paste product tends to require less of to do the job - a good tip whatever you are using is "use less than you think every time" a small amount will do large areas any more and you are just flooding the paintwork.

Alan, for a lasting shine you are going to need to seal and / or wax the finish from your polish.

If using the AutoGlym which I would recommend, you can follow it with Extra Gloss Protection. That should give you a start anyway.

Of course you can get both products in your local halfords or car part store etc.

I got Auto Glym Super Resin Polish when I was at Knockhill on Sunday, paid £2 for an Autotrader and got the polish thrown in free. With a bit of luck (weather-wise ) I will be able to get it used on the this weekend.

AG will be easy to put on and take off, Meguiars is a bit hard work but my favourite and don't let this put you off, neither are expensive and as I said if you use less they will last ages. Use proper applicators or microfibre pads and to take off terry towels and final finish supershine microfibre towel, see meguiars website - dont use cheap cloths.

Autoglym super resin polish 3-12 times a year depending on how much you can be bothered followed by wax (i use turtlewax), and ICE car detailing polish spray (takes 10 mins to do the whole car) for the inbetween times is all you should need really!
