My ST is about 4 months old with 3k on the clock! However since having it for about 1 and half months im having problems with it already! Its booked into Ford for them to have a look into it (not going in for another 3 weeks though!),however was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on my probs...

1- The engine light came on after i checked the oil...car already been into Ford and they ran tests, couldnt find anything wrong with it, engine light still on! Is this a common prob with Fiestas?

2- Sometimes when i pull off the gear will pop out of 1st back in to neutral! Never known a car to do that before! Also whenever i put it into reverse it makes a horrible crunching noise!

3- When accelerating hard it holds back until it gets to 3000 revs and then it goes fine!

Anyone have these problems with their ST?
If it was an old car i wouldnt moan, but i've just spent £12k on a pretty much brand new car and i expect it to be perfect ! Am i asking too much? Lol!

Firstly, 12k!!! - you got had!

Engine light fault means something is up.... dont take any crap from ford dealers as they come on for a reason.

1st gear pop out is just the gearbox is tight. mine did it when new but its loosened up now. What you need to do is make sure its in and if it doesn't go, put it in neutral, blip the throttle and try again - double de clutching is all the rage!

Holding back until 3000rpm seems odd - mine is very progressive, but 1st and 2nd just feel a bit lacking; lots of noise but not much pace. if anything, when I first had mine I was either wheelspinning verywhere or stalling it becasue I didn't want to look like a wheelspinning chav

steves right 12k is bit much 4 a car 4months old with 3k on clock .also had mine stall and been unable to start a couple of times when cold as though its choked itself.but since putting more miles on clock it hasnt done it since.

It didnt have 3k on the clock, it had 210 miles on the clock when i bought it, i have put it up to 3k, and it was 2 month old when i got it

Even for a brand new car, 12k seems a bit high but don't know what extras you have.

To be fair, as long as you're happy with it it doesn't really matter what you pay, but you can pick up new ST's for about 10.5k in a basic level spec and you are not asking too much for a 12k car to work properly - get straight back to the dealer.

Oh - my first gear slipped out this morning..... first time in about a year!

Lol sorry guys, just read what i wrote and was a bit misleading! I got the car for 10,500 but am paying back £12k all together on my finance so i think of it as 12k really lol! Glad my gears arent the only ones that pop out!

to stop it crunching when you put it into reverse, first put it into 1st gear then into reverse gear and it should stop.
