PLEASE BE AWARE EVERYONE - NOTHING IS SAFE!!!!!

LAST NIGHT I HAD BEEN HAVING A MEAL WITH MY GIRLFRIEND AT THE BULLS HEAD IN SHENSTONE, LICHFIELD. I PARKED MY CAR 20 YARDS FROM THE WINDOW AT 7.30PM, CAME OUTSIDE TO FIND THAT SOME B*STARD HAVE STOLEN MY SPOILER, FRONT BUMPER (LEAVING TWO DENTS WHERE A SCREW DRIVER WRENCHED IT OFF) AND REAR ALLOY CAP.

I HONESTLY CANT BELIEVE WOT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. THE POLICE DID GIVE ME A CRIME NUMBER! VERY NICE

I HAVE RUNG MY INSURANCE UP (DIRECT LINE) TO BE TOLD I HAVE TO PAY £275.00 EXCESS AND THAT I WILL LOOSE 3 YEARS OF MY NO-CLAIMS BONUSES WHICH I HAVE 6.5. WHAT THE HELL IS GOIN ON!!!! IS THIS A KICK IN THE TEETH OR WHAT.

I HAVE THE OPTION TO EITHER PAY FOR IT MYSELF, OR PAY £275.00 & LOOSE 3 OF MY YEARS NCB.

ANY BODY GOT ANY IDEAS OF COSTS?

WE WORKED TO PAY FOR OUR CARS, FOR SCUM TO COME ALONG TAKE WOT WE OWN THEN WE HAVE TO SUFFER BY GETTING IT REPAIRED.

I FEEL LIKE SELLING IT AND BUYING A NISSAN MICRA!

Directline have vandalism cover that does not affect your no claims - you pay the excess, but you will get it back.

Please note that even though your no claims is not impacted, your risk might be, thus your premium may still go up.

It amazes me how some people think they have the right to do things like this and not have to pay their way like we all have to. Disgusting.

Very sorry to hear about this

I am sorry for what happend to you.
This week I lost one of my center caps on the alloy but I was lucky as I was driving slow and I noticed it so I stoped the car and picked up the cap but I have noticed that someone tryed to still my alloys as two center caps were removed and put back in place in wrong way so someone was trying to still my alloys but he found out that I have security nuts on them

Really sorry to hear this but it happens so often.

List of parts and prices. Have a ring around scrappies as they might have some. Personally i would keep the ncb and pay for the parts But like said abouve direct line have vandalism cover.

Sorry to hear about this mate

As Micky said I'd buy the parts yourself and not go through insurance. It may work out cheaper than £275 to buy the spoiler, get it sprayed etc. but even if it's slightly more expensive, you're better off keeping your no claims and not affecting your driver risk rating.

sorry to hear about this, I have had my spoiler taken and know how you feel, I have set up cctv and also used Alpha Dot on all remaining parts to try and deter would be thieves.

I would not claim through your insurance, there are often breakers and also a Ford centre on ebay which you can be more certain that the parts aren't stolen - obviously don't want to feed the demand from dodgy sellers.
I would also ring around your local scrap yard.

Somebody has mentioned a system which you can fit to your car which will page you immediately if your car is touched, I did post the other day to ask if anyone had details but don't remember getting a response - anyone know what product does this?

Hope you get it sorted soon

*Edit* Spoilers tend to go for £110 on ebay, look out for gnuine sellers and not people that happen to have them lying around

I wanted to get rid of my car when the spoiler got stolen, but having had some time to think. it could have been worse, we can only try and secure our cars as best we can.

Thanks for your kind words, it seems that Direct Lines Vandalism cover does not apply when the parts are actually stolen. What a sham,

I have thought of getting the parts myself but its still gonna need body work n respraying where the fcukers wedged a screw driver into the body work to get the bumper off!
