steve1981 Fiesta Nutter Registered: 26/09/06 Posts: 1287 Loc: Cambs	Arghhhhh Just been sent a speeding fine from Hertz for an alleged offece (well 2 actually) that occured 7 months ago!!!! So, my question is, does Holland have the same laws regarding a time limit like we do in the UK to allow people to remember any mitigating circumstances? I can't believe it..... caught twice, 4 minutes apart and I was alleged to be only 12km(7mph)over the speed limit.... phffff! Makes me think what else could be in the pipeline as I've been over to Holland loads recently!

mc67st Regular Registered: 14/09/08 Posts: 86 Loc: northamptonshire	ask hertz for proof you want a picture of yourself driving that car a the moment of the offence. as it was a hire car anyone could be driving it at the time.also i would try and get a 1/2hr free consultation with a solicitor just in case.how many points do you have on your licence?.if you have 3 or more and get 3 more for each offence you will have to go to court if they count from holland!.

Problem is that I'm dealing with 2 problems here - first is the Dutch legal system which has taken 7 months to process the alleged offece and the second is a contract with Hertz that says I'll pay any traffic offences?? I've got a hire car booked this friday in germany and I think I'll be switch to Avis out of spite if they don't take off the admin charges! _________________________ Eco-warrior

steve1981 Fiesta Nutter Registered: 26/09/06 Posts: 1287 Loc: Cambs	OK - don't think I risk a ban anyway.... the top spped I was clocked at was 12kmph above the limit (72 in a 60) and this doesn't included the correction of -3kmph. So I'm actually being fined for 9kmph over or ~5mph. I've also got to pay the fine dircetly to a dutch bank so will have to pay a £10 transaction fee I tell you one thing..... the next time the Germans are invading Holland I for one will not be putting on a parachute and jumping to their aid! _________________________ Eco-warrior
