was looking at other devices, this one, as it pivots at the handbrake then surely if you unscrew the gearstick knob off then it just lifts off !

am I right ?

probably... why do you want one of those Steve? The car is going nowhere without the keys or a big truck, so I really wouldn't bother with that!

my mate completely rips me for this, but i do agree the car is going nowhere without the keys or a truck.. its just the bits that im worried about going missing ie: spoiler/wings/wheels and as someone has even had his bumpers nicked when he was at a pub!

well exactly. If you're going to spend money on security. Get the alphadot thingy, as that is very cheap and also get a pager to warn you if your car is touched!

i bought one not so long ago as it was only cheap. just use it as a visual detterent.
it can come off if you unscrew the gearnob but mine has been stuck tight with industrial superglue and is not budging!

anything to keep the thieves there longer trying to steal it from outside my flat is perfet excuse to go down and lay down some punishment.

Thieves will obviously think twice if there is visual security but watching some of these police documentary's just shows how quick it is to remove nearly every security device on sale, there seems to be a weakness with them all that when exploited makes them useless.

Personally i see these as a waste of money but i do live in an area where the worst crime reported is serving beer past last orders.

Honestly, if a thief wants to have your car away he/she will. Alpha dot doesn't stop people having your spoiler/front bumper away, pagers don't stop people smashing your window and confronying anybody who has the balls to break into a car is not a good idea or you'll end up getting hurt.

best security is park beside a nicer car and get insured!

most thieves who steal from cars know they can't take the car, but the can steal off it,like people on here have said. spoilers, bumpers and so on, and another little tip, leave your glove box open(with nothing in it) happened to a mate a while back someone smashed the window and opened the glove box and nicked all his cd's,
the police did turn up and did say this has happened alot over the last few months,
just have a look what you leave in your glove box? bet some have sat nav's, ipods, cd's and maybe wallet's/purses. all items that can be sold on...

one last thing, another friend had one of the full face steering wheel locks on the her car(the one that covers the full steering wheel) she lost the key to get it off,
I just picked up a load of tools and went to help, 30 seconds later and with a good screwdriver it was off. I was shocked on how easy it was to get off(yes it was only a cheap one from argos) she did take it back and got a exchange(for a better one)
