Duratec HE (JI4) is made in Bridgend (UK)unless I'm very much mistaken.....

Mmmm now I'm thinking about it it may be Sigma that they make.

It's a Mazda design but it's used all over the group - Mazda, Volvo and Ford.

The Duratec HE is the name used by Ford of Europe.European 1.8 L and 2.0 L Duratec HE engines are built at the Valencia Engine Plant in Spain.

The Focus RS featured a turbocharged version of the 2.0 L Zetec unit producing 215 bhp (158 kW) and 310 N·m (229 ft·lbf) of torque, although badged a Duratec-RS.

Yes Duratec HE is built at Valencia.

Bridgend build 1.6 Sigma (ZS) not sure where 1.25 or 1.4 is built. Bridgend also build Jaguar/Land Rover's V8s

Diesels come from Dagenham (a couple from Peugeot) and I'm sure Dagenham still build a small volume petrol engine but I don't know what it is. It may even be the old Cologne V6.

I know that Cologne build engines but can't for the life of me remember which ones.

The FRS engine was indeed a re-badged Zetec-E (cast Iron Block) as was the 170PS VVT version used in the ST170.

Beginning in 2004, Ford dropped the old 4-cylinder Zetec engines in favor of Mazda's MZR design. Thus, 2005 and present Duratec 4-cylinder engines are Mazdas.

The engine is currently built by Ford in Chihuahua, Mexico; Dearborn, Michigan; Valencia, Spain; Laguna, Philippines; and Nanjing, China.

The Duratec is the replacement engine of the older Zetec, but on closer inspection you notice that the two are nothing alike! The Duratec belongs to the '14 family' as found in twin-cam Sierras and Mk5 Escort RS2000 as a 16-valver. However it doesn't have a lot in common with thos either. The only aspect they share is chain-driven camshafts.
