during this past cold week notice when i start the ST up after it been sitting for 8 hrs slight whistling coming from engine bay whereabouts dont know any ideas...

My ST makes a high pitched whining/whistling noise when I have my front heated screen on straight off in the mornings. Not that loud or anything but could be that.
yeh screen was on at the time seems when she warms up seems to be non exsistant..just recently heard it over the cold spell,,,

The HFS is quite a drain on the poor wee alternator so the whine you're hearing, especially as you say the screen was on, is the alternator trying to power it and everything else. Bless it.
