I drove past a dumper lorry today which kindly threw a load of sharp little stones all over my car... it's took a couple of deep chips out of my bonnet aswell as littering lots of little ones and also took some sharp chips out of my windscreen...

It's soooooooooooooooo damn frustrating!!!

I don't mind so much at the windscreen as that gets chipped up and can be easily replaced when required but the bonnet is very frustrating as it just looks ugly... I've got to accept that this will happen but a years worth in 1 day is very frustrating... I've even been keeping well clear of cars on the motorway as to not get the stones kicked up... Guess it's just bad luck... next time i'm not going to pass those bloody lorries.

Anyone else experienced this? What did you do about it? If you got it repaired how much did it cost?

Have heard good things about a company called `Chips Away`. Had a leaflet through my door and seen their van around. Not sure on price but have heard a few good words about them. I think they are a franchise, so look them up and see what they say!

you can buy anti chip clear stick on stuff, hard to put on without any air or dirt bubbles and very hard to get off if left on more than 6months onwards and there are some proffesional companies that apply a more proffesional product too, your car and look just as bad with this stuff on though.

I don't want to repair it myself... thats a no no... not having blobs all over my car... if it can't be done without looking stupid or a mess then i'll just wait until it's chipped up and get it completely resprayed... but at the end of the day it could well happen again just the same...

How many of you have large stone chips out of your bonnets?

Lol... i'm glad you have Ayesha... i know how much you like your car nice and clean and polished so it's a bummer... makes me feel a little better that other people with cars they show have the same.

How bloody annoying... how good are these people at sorting it out and blending the paint back in?

Mine has loads Scotty so your not alone. Luckly on a silver car they don't show up too much.

My fiesta had a deep scratch all the way along the drivers front wing (worse than any stone chips) After it went into a repair place looked good as new. Most independant companies are good. I got a porche garage to do mine

EDIT: i hope it wasn't the

Yss Micky it was the I've been back out to see it and tbh it's not as bad as i make out to me... theres a couple of deep stone chips but i'll get them repaired by a garage or a man with a van before show season and the other really small bits and bobs i'll just add some wax and polish them through.

I'm going to give it a clean and polish tomorrow so i'll see the true extent of the damage. It's not too bad... it's bound to happen.

Mine has got loads of stone chips all over it also. It's just one of those things that I've come to accept that it will happen. The bad ones I've touched up as best I can and tried to smooth them off so that it's not obvious. It's certainly not ideal, but like Ayesha says at least it won't rust then. If it did get really bad then I would get it resprayed eventually.
