doesn't sound much and yes expensive but on the road these minor improvements make a difference.
I like the Focus RS a lot, for day to day driving you'd want the ST, for a blast at weekend the RS.

Yes but Kev the standard ST gives the MKI FRS a good run for its money and you haven't even taken into account the deals with employee discount. Then the £1096 gets you into MKII FRS territory (very nearly) and they are £25k+.

And there are alot cheaper upgrade kits around than Mountune as well, Pumaspeed do a 285 kit for £795. Sod the warranty, think of the depreciation????
If it bolts on, it will bolt back off again

They (ST) are very very afforable and as you say, very livable if you just want to nip down the shops and looney when you want them to be.

I am really very tempted I can tell you.

totally agree with regards to the depreciation possibly outweighing the difference in cost. and i guess what it really really boils down to is personal choice because although you may have the odd track day your generally living with it day to day yourslef, doing the shopping run, work run etc so the standard focus st in my opinion is great as the everyday car with extra "uumph" when you want it.

and from speaking to you guys on here i can feel myseklf slowly being drawn into the focus st over the fez.

I upgraded from a fiesta st to and focus st and I have to say its the best decision I've ever made.

IMO it goes better round corners, obv accelerates faster but the difference is once you're cruising on the motorway it's TOTALLY quiet. Whereas the fiesta had a lot of noise at speed I found. Plus the noise from the engine when accelerating can't be matched by the fiesta... ooh and when you feel the thrust when the turbo kicks in... wow!

Definitely go for it if you can afford it I'd say!

I got a quote for £923 with direct line when I first got it, which isn't too bad and i'm now paying £835...

I get 22mpg with focus and got 23 with fiesta so not much different and I haven't changed my driving style particularly!

I haven't looked back once.

Loved the fiesta.

Love the focus even more :-D

dam good quote on the focus for your age.
If you thrash the fiesta around, yes you will get below 30mpg, if you drive sensibly and use the torque and 5th (it will do 30mph in 5th-better when run in more)you can expect 30mpg on a local stop/start journey, way above this if on a decent long road(s) drive.

i think your right. but im really weighing it up in terms of how much money i could save in the long run on the fiesta, plus that was the one i loved in the first place and decided i wanted....maybe i should cancel the focus?

haha the fiesta is a fun car, you will like it. But if you're anything like me, once you've felt the power you won't want to go back. The Focus is going to feel a hell of a lot quicker. I suppose you could buy a second hand fiesta now and a focus when you get bored?

You will easily get a decent fiesta st for £5k in March when you want to buy and won't lose huge amounts (hopefully!) in a year or so. Then if you still fancy the focus go for it, they certainly aren't going to go up in price!

yeh thats another idea i suppose but the good thing is that whatever car i decide on i wont get it for another 2 months unfortunatley, im only test driving now so iv got plenty of time to try the ones i do like, the good thing about that is that i will be back to my 1.2 corsa(lol) for a while so the fez will seem brill when i get it!!!

my budget is what i want really up to 11k so whereas the focus would be 2nd hand the fiesta will more than likey be new (well 58)

so you test drove the focus aswell? u regret not geting it if you did?

Just to let you know you can really hammer down the prices atm...a mate of mine got a focus st dropped from 12.5k down to 8.5k...altho he didnt eventually buy it shows you can drop the prices by a fair amount
