Hello all,

I'm looking to upgrade the brakes on my 1.7 Puma (I know, boo hiss etc ), but I need some info.

I have been reliably informed that the ST150 disks and calipers are a popular upgrade as the Puma/Fiesta share the same (or similar) hubs. However, I have been unable to find any ST150 calipers, and the chance of me paying the £200+ each that Ford want is slim to none. I have found some calipers cheap on eBay, although they are only listed as "Fiesta 2006 Mk7".

Are they the same, or am I way off the mark with those? Also, I noticed in one advert for ST150 disks and pads in the classifieds here that the pads will fit the Focus ST170 calipers as they are the same. Is that true? I was under the impression the ST170 calipers were quite a bit larger as they are not a direct fit (bolt holes need tapping) and the disks are 300mm.

Any help or suggestions you can offer would be great.

ST170 and ST150 use the same pads but the calipers are different.

The calipers are adapted for the 280mm Discs on the 150 and 300mm on the 170.

I think if you go for 300mm from the ST170 you will need a minimum of 16" wheels, not sure though, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Don't boo-hiss at your Puma they're a great car.

Try PumaSpeed to see what brake kits they do for the Puma

Thanks for the reply.

You are right about the ST170 setup needing 16's, which is why I'd prefer to go down the ST150 route. That way I can keep my flower power wheels of awesomeness.

And PumaSpeed can swivel with their prices! £345 for 'Escort Cosworth sized' calipers and 280mm disks? Pfft.

The only thing you could do then is keep your eye out for an ST150 being broken up and go and get the bits off that.

What about the calipers pictured above? Are they the ST calipers, or similar spec'd?
