The air con unit does not run all the time, it clicks in and out as and when it's needed.Heard this on other cars too. It just depends where the unit is located as to how easily you hear it I think.

The click is normal and can be quite loud it,s just the relay clicking over. When it,s running it,s normal to hear some churning and burbling noises, sounds a bit like water.

Cheers guys..........would it click in and out every 20/30 seconds. I think its linked to how hard you accelerate or how fast you drive.

Every twenty to thirty seconds no!Is it cooling? If it,s not cooling you,ve got no gas.Do you have the temp set at it,s lowest. It,s not climate control but it is governed by the temp dial. The burbling is usually caused by condensation inside the air pipes quite normal.

The air con is lovely and cool when the dial is turned to its coldest setting. I may be wrong in saying this, but I'm sure when I accelerate hard from say 50mph this "tut" noise happens and I'm sure I can feel the steering twitch slightly - as if a belt (timing, air con, cam - unsure) is slipping in the engine.
This noise is happening on the courtesy car I have too.......its a Zetec Climate. The air con unit on that makes a noise when left on when driving normally.

Ok, I have never had much to do with air con before, but when it was really hot last week I had to resort to putting the air con on at its coldest, but it just felt cool rather than cold in the hot weather, am I expecting too much?
P.S I can definitly feel its working as when putting my foot down she feels like she is holding back slightly.

When the weather is really hot the air con never feels as cold as you would like it to!
Make sure you open the windows first for a minute to get rid of the trapped hot air, put the recirculate on, the temp to it's coldest and the fan on 3 or 4, that should make a difference!

I generally only keep the recirculate on for 10 - 15 minutes at the most.

its normall that the air-con will pop on and off all the time. the moment the pressure is high enough or the 2nd radiator is cold enough the pump will shut off.

I had my Aircon compressor changed due to a Ford recall, for some reason they fitted so many with Mondeo compressors & they made an awful sound, Lucky really I had my ST booked in to get the Vbelt tensioner replaced as that is what the dealer thought it was the recall notice came through before they did it.
Anyhoo the Aircon is not quite as good as I think it should be, apparantly the unit is on a clutch system whereby when you boot it the Aircon cuts out so you don't loose power from the engine, damn thing just cuts out & in whenever, Dealer can't or wont fix it.

Hi blue,
I noticed the exact same thing - for example going up a hill, you stick your foot down and boot it then the air con clicks in and out as and when.......slightly annoying to be honest. But its lovely and cold though!
