Gf went out to her car (Fiesta Flame) this morn and the front spring has broke. Half of 1 of the coils was lying on the floor.

Not much of a mechanic myself.

Is this pretty easy to fix (her Dad is good with cars)?

Is it likely to just be a case iof replacing the 1 spring?

Your help is appreciated.

Should be easy enough to replace. I would replace in pairs like tyres. Maybe a good excuse to get a pair of stiffened and lowered springs.

Not to hard to do, but will need some compressors.

As has been said, i personally would replace both sides.

It is relatively easy, but a spring compressor will be needed. These can be bought quite cheeply from Halfords etc. You may need to buy a ball joint removal/breaking tool for the track arm also i think, again, a cheap item.

This is a known issue with the standard model of Fiesta and a recall may have been issued.

I'll find out when I'm back at work next week, you may be able to get Ford to do it.

If you do it yourself you MUST change both springs as you will unbalance the front end of the car and risk losing control.

Cheers for the replies.

Think gf is gonna get the local garage to tow it and replace the spring. Shes worried what else may have been damaged e.g poss suspensions or brakes.
