Lol seems like my car is falling apart! ... N/s drive shaft has a leak and a split CV boot?. Garage want 160 for the repair on the drive shaft and 140 of the CV boot repair. Am getting a noise from that area which leads me to believe grit has scored the bearings. Ebay seller the shaft along with the rubber bit for 65 quid! Am i onto a hiding to nothing? or is it worth just sticking it in the garae?

Are there any "how to" guides out there for fitting a drive shaft?

The bottom balljoint and steering rack hold the drive shaft in place.

You will need a spreader (like a big balljoint seperator) to free the shaft from the splines into the gearbox and the hub.

Once you have sperated the hub from the lower balljoint and the track rod end the driveshaft will pull out of the hub then the gearbox.

Mmmmm there may be a big nut to remove as well on the outside of the hub, I can't remember.

oh ... so no hacksaw then lol... Ok sounds like i might actually kill myself doing this.. Might chuck it into the garage!! many thanks for the help!!! :):)

No seriously, you need a big hammer to seperate the shaft from the gearbox, that's the hardest part.
Once you "cracked them off" as they say then the whole lot just comes apart a piece of cake.

Yeah got a feeling it might need a mechanics touch.. Thanks though!
