Hi guys,

When you press your AC button can you see your revs dip as the engine powers on the pump?
I have just picked up my ST today and am blown away by her!!!
One issue of when I press the ac is doesn't get cold and I can't hear the engine engage the pump.
Do you think it needs re-gassing or the pump has failed. It's 57 plate.

Matt

I thought there would of been a warning light if its failed. Needs to be run at least once a month to not get fusty.
Remember, you need the fan to be on at least 1 for the AC to work. If you are just pressing it the light will immediatly go out, not sure if thats what your doing?

air con only works above 4oC, I flick mine on every day otherwise the seals leak if not used. It should work straight away, sometimes take a mo to kick in though.

I have had several fiesta's and a focus prior to my ST so I'm aware of how the aircon controls need to be set but I have never had this issue before.
With the engine on and the bonnet up, when you press the A/C button you cannot hear the compressor kick in.

What does this signify do you think? Is the aircon system covered under warranty?

Thanks,

Matt

If it were down to the seals going and it needing re-gassing etc then it wouldn't be covered as they would say that was down to not being used. That doesn't sound like what it is in your case though, so if it's the compressor that has packed in then yes it should be covered under warranty.

My compressor doesnt kick in this time of year, must be due to the outside air temp

Depends on the outside temp. Couldnt say for sure but if the external temp is say 10'c then i dont think i'd get any reduction in conditioned air temp. I'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know.

Update:

Took the car into Ford today and all it needed was re-gassing.
With most manufacturers, when the A/C gas runs out the compressor still comes on but apparently Ford is one of the few in which this doesn't happen and the system just goes dead and all you get is the light on the console.

At least they got it in, had a look at a something else I needed checking and re-gassed the A/C. Had the car back within 3 hours, a free ride home when I dropped her off and the work done didn't cost me a penny!

Now I can stop worrying about the car and ruddy enjoy it!

Thanks for all your input and help guys!

grrr!my 2007 fester a/c has that mouldy smell.only when the a/c is operating. there is nothing in the haynes manual about this problem or where any filters are located.

what can i do? if i leave it on full heat (on my fiesta thats hot enough for passengers to self combust ) will that cook/clean it out or are the heater & evaporator fins too far apart? thx
