Hi there all,

Just found this forum, so I thought I'd pop in and say hi!! I have a few questions for you...

I've loved the ST since I saw the first pictures, and am getting closer and closer to taking the plunge. My nearly definate colur choice would be white with blue side stripes only. What do you think of that? I can't seem to find any owners with white cars on here so far? Does anyone have pictures of a white car with the side stripes?

I have a little Smart, which is a great little car for what it can do, but the long journeys are getting to be a strain, and I need to have a bit more fun! But the main reason for me possibly placing an order is that I have found somewhere that can do me a brand new one for £10999 on the 14th September. Thats a considerable saving from the Ford price, so I would be interested to hear if anyone has seen them cheaper.

I called the place up, and he said that price is for a standard car. Do you know where I can see the standard spec online? I can't seem to get the full picture from the Ford website. I work abroad alot, and I think that the standard spec in Sweden is slightly different. I have a feeling that the ESP is not standard. Am I right? I think that I would be daft not to have to have ESP, especially driving in Sweden. What do you think?

Nice forum guys, I look forward to joining in more, especially if I do buy the car.

Many thanks,

Luke.

Hi there
I've nicked someone elses pic of their white with stripes for you to look at.

With regard to your other queries ESP is only an option - it costs £350, though you have to get the reflex pack as well which costs £275, though if you're getting yours cheaper you might a reduction in the price of these as well.

Possibly the best bet for seeing for yourself whats standard and whats not is the configurator on the Ford website which you can find at:

http://www2.fordconnection.com/fordconnection/vehicleSelect.do

Cheers, Chris

There aren't many owners on here with white with stripes, but that said, I think someone has picked one up today in that colour. Its really grown on me, and I nearly regret getting red, but I think if you go for white you need the full set of stripes for it to look its best, just my opinion though.

I notice you're in Sweden rookie. I can't really comment on prices over there (being British lol) but if you do your homework you can certainly pick them up for much much less than the Ford dealer price. In fact, I think there's very few people that have actually paid normal dealer prices, most either having bought online or having got the Ford staff discount (aka Privilege). If you look around the site you can see people's comments on various internet companies in the UK, but are you looking to buy one here or in Sweden?

As Chris says above, ESP isn't standard over here, and I don't think it is in (m)any countries. Personally, I don't think its necessary. I find it near impossible to really spin the wheels in the dry, and its not a problem in the wet provided you don't drive like a lunatic. Ok, it would be a useful safety feature if you often have to contend with very wet weather or snow and ice, and at least you can turn it off!

Anyway, good luck with the decision-making. I probably won't be alone in telling you that the ST is a fantastic little car, its easy to live with on a day to day basis, but also has the ability to put a huge smile on your face when you take it for a spirited drive.

Hopefully we'll be seeing more of you on here!

Hiya,

All i can say is GO FOR IT!!!!! I picked up my white ST this morning and haven't stopped smiling since. I went for the full stripes though as I thought the white with just the side stripes looked a bit bland. I think the other colours (especially blue and red) look good with JUST the side stripes, but at the end of the day it's personal choice. I think an ST should look like an ST and therefore in my opinion it has to be the full works.

The only problem with the white is that it really does get dirty! I've had mine for about 10 hours and already it needs a good clean!

As for buying the ST, the price you mentioned sounds good - it's really a case of doing a bit of digging around to see what you can get. I was lucky enough to get the Ford ticket, but if that's not possible, there's quite a few internet sites that offer pretty good deals, although I personally would check the details very carefully.

Whatever you do though, go for the ST - you will NOT regret it. I've had so many cars over the years, nothing else comes close in terms of looks, handling, build quality, etc, etc. You'll have to spend a lot more money than the ST to get a car as good (and value for money.

Go for it mate.

Hi!
I am also from Sweden. Skane to be precise. I went for the Magnum Grey colour. At first I was going to buy a blue one but when I came into the dealership showroom I spotted a Magnum Grey Focus and I loved the colour. I asked if it were available on the Fiesta and it was.

I managed to get a pretty good deal I think, payed £10,889 (148,900 SEK) and got reflex pack (sidokrockgardiner) included.

If you go for the white one it looks a little dull without the sidestripes IMO. I wouldn't go for the full stripe tho cause of all bad attention it could get. Especially if you are going to park it in the city.

Thats my in the picture and I have to agree, top stripes would have made it a bit of a target!! Plus i'm not a young'en as Pinky likes to point out But even she has succumbed to a bit of "White"

Hi all,

Ive only just been able to get back on here, as I've been off enjoying the Swedish summer.

I went and took a test drive during the week. I thought it was fantstic! Although the only gripe I have is that you can't get lower in the seat. I only need about 20mm more I think to be comfy, so that is a tad annoying. Do you get used to it...?

Hi! Skane? I like it down there. The skinny dipping last summer off Malmo harbour with the girlies after dark was particularly interesting..

That sounds like a good price, and the same as the price I have found in the UK. But as I dont know how long I shall be here, it makes more sense right now for me to get a UK car. And I've just been offered a job in Australia. I suppose I could always take it out there with me, as I've had a look on the Ford Australia website and there is no on there!!

Any more comments on the ESP? What do you think, Walle?

And also, is air con standard? I can seem to find a damn list of standard equipment on the ford website!!!! ggrrrr.....

cheers,

Luke.

Hi Luke. Good luck with importing one into Sweden. Do you want a left or right hand drive car though? I'm not sure how many UK dealers could source you a left hand drive car at a discounted price.

I bought mine from www.allbrandsnew.com . Couldn't fault them in terms of the price or the service. They're in Hull as well, so could be fairly convenient for the ferry across the North Sea!

As for others, there's:

www.coast2coastcars.co.uk
www.virgincars.com
www.uk-car-discount.co.uk
www.jamjar.com
www.dccook.co.uk

Prices and delivery times will of course vary between sites, as may the fact that the car will be pre-registered.

Also, take a look at www.honestjohn.co.uk . Its the website of the motoring section of the Daily Telepgraph. The newspaper is crap but the site has loads of useful information and links on it about where to buy.

Hope that helps!

Funnily enough, I never came across Coast2Coast when I bought mine, but a few of the guys from rsstoc.com have bought theirs from there and can't fault them.

Make sure that the quoted prices include all of the sundry costs though. When you read the small print you can sometimes find that the cost doesn't include delivery, road tax, number plates, those sort of things, and they can often add a good few hundred more to the price.
