I bought the facia adaptor from Ford. I know this might sound odd but I like to buy the part from the company rather than some Halfords "universal" thing. A facia adaptor made for Ford, for the mk6 Fiesta and sold by Ford I trust *heh* I got a headunit (Pioneer) from a very good, very cheap website (thanks again to you vince!!) Car Audio Direct site. I'm getting it fitted by a good local company (get someone else to do the cutting *lol*).

Be warned you need adaptor plugs because apparently Ford have changed the plugs again? I went to have my head unit fitted today but the shop didnt have the adaptor. I've had to order it from Halfords but apparently I ordered it early enough in the day so I *might* get it tomorrow. This might just be a Halfords parts number but I have PC2-804.

I'm doing all of this because my 6006 went belly up about 2 weeks ago. I'm getting a new 6006 from my dealership under warranty but I might sell that on eBay to cover the cost of this one. I dont trust a head unit that "doesnt guarantee play back". I've gotta hope I get my System Of A Down & Trivium CDs back from my 6006!

Still maintain that the standard headunit is very good, I've never felt like I've needed one that's more powerful.

If you do replace it you also need to get the sat nav fascia too (about £80). Without this, you won't be able to get a normal double din sized hole, unless you want to start cutting bits out of the dashboard. Some people have cut the dash, but it could leave you with a problem when you come to sell it if you want to take the headunit with you.

If you're only replacing with a single din unit then, IMO, I don't think it looks very good with the hole that's left in the dash.

So as I understand it, you can:

A) Have the 6006 taken out. Buy a single din fascia adaptor from Ford for about £25-30 (can get a whole kit cheaper online at the Nexxia site for example). Get an audio installation company, or DIY, cut the two thin strips of plastic & fit the fascia adaptor (like the pics in Chris' post). Fit the new headunit & have a handy wallet/phone/sunglasses/sweets/iPod/whatever hole underneath *heh*

B) Have the 6006 taken out. Buy a sat nav fascia (bascially a replacement for the whole part of the console where the stereo sits without having to cut the plastic strips) for about £80. Fit new headunit etc etc etc...

Like Parksey says it depends if you want to sell the car on afterwards or how much you want to spend. I trust the install company I'm using to cut the dash and seeing as I'm planning to keep this car for the forseeable future, I'm not fussed about cutting bits.

Yep got it in one pink

I trusted my ICE dealer to do it, as thats their job and they did a really good job, only when you really look close can you see they have cut it, i was very impressed.

As for the cutting and selling it afterwards, in my opinion, if you dont want to cut the bits you have to buy the adapter which will cost 80 quid, if you do want to cut the bits but then sell with the original head unit you will have to buy another fascia at some later point, either way both are gonna cost you 80 quid, its just whether you pay it now or later, so it makes no odds really i think.

And if you are gonna sell the car with the head unit you've saved yourself 80, not bad if you ask me.
