Faults so far

1. Clink noise on pull away- driveshaft replaced (fault still occurs)
2. airbag warning light on - reprogrammed
3. engine revs up when changing gear and idle @1500 when warm- reprogged
4. spring noise from clutch pedal
5. clink noise on pull away still occurs - wheel bearing changed
6. other side has clink noise - wheel bearing replaced
7. airbag warning light on again - reprogrammed PCM showed no fault found.
8. clunk noise from steering column - steering column replaced

There is still a clink noise on pull away and still a clunk noise from steering column!!!

ST???...... S...H...I...T

I must have the worse ST ever built

as I purchased in with dealer discount as i'm staff apparently Ford will not agree Ford commitment with 3 faults not being repaired after 3 attempts so i'm putting this on here so anyone going to buy a ST will understand there is a chance they will have a really badly built car.

Fair enough to share you concerns, but scare-mongering is a bit much. Are most of the "noises" you're hearing actually faults or just the sort of general noises that cars make?

There the general sort of noises a broken car makes yes.

Well if I was going to purchase this car all over again I would like to know of other peoples problems with the car as well as the people that are pleased with their cars.

Its not scaremongering its adding my experience of so far owning a Fiesta ST.

Also some of the faults are regular occurances on ST's The engine reving, the clink noise on pull away on a few. Ford have a technical service bulltin on this.

Hi Jos

The site is for Ford employees to use and is not available to the public unfortunatly.

Sorry parksey if my first post came across all agro... its just i'm a bit vexed with having a car with faults that have taken many attempts to repair.

Welcome to the site Micheal

I'm really sorry to hear about all the problems you have been having! Which dealership did you get it from (or would you rather remain "anonymous" *heh*) It seems that so many different people have had such different experiences both with FMC & their willingness (or lack of) to help and the ST as a whole. I've had polite call backs, offers of help to speed up my new 6006 and felt like I was listened to. Some people have had the door shut in their face Ford employee or not! On the whole though, I couldnt be happier with my ST. Let's hope these are just "teething" problems (although you wouldnt expect them of a company like Ford...hmmm... scratch that )

michael everyone has their own thoughts about their ST, as i think this is the first modle of the ST there is bound to be a few probs with it, and also there is never the same car build twice (if u get me), this noise from the steering colum is this while u r driving yes? if so, this has also been noted by other members, as i get a few clunking noises as i go over a dodgy road, sound like u r riping the steering colum out!!!!

Its when turning over bumpy surfaces mainly but even over bumpy surfaces in a
straight line it does it. Something is knocking behind the steering wheel. It did not do it when I first had the car so it is a fault that has developed rather than a caracteristic of the car.

Sorry to hear the problems you have had.

On the positive side, not all ST's are like the one you have had. I love mine to bits. I get the sterring column rattle over bumps when turning but it's the same after 7800 miles as it was when I first picked the car up so I'm not worried about it. Clutch spring squeek has been sorted. Hopefully nothing else to come.

like i said in the other thread the knocking is nothing to worry about really but its worth keeping an eye out tho!!!! if it didnt do it when u first got it, then keep taking it back to ford no matter what!!! u dont pay the money u did for nothing, but it just might be worn in now, and if so your no the only 1 with this noise!!

Freestyle - How did you get rid of squeaky clutch thing? it is driving me absolutely nuts. did you sort it yourself or did you take back to Ford? If so how long did it take? Might give the dealer a call now.

The sqeeky clutch was done by the Ford dealer, they obviously lubricated it with something. It still does it very slightly but nowhere near as bad and not all the time.

I had tried some WD40 on it but the sptring is really awkward to get at so I couldn't do a good job. Plus I had lost the straw off my WD40 can which made it een harder!
