I can confirm that the ST170 is running 179bhp at the wheels, I was there and witnessed the whole rolling road day.

The Black Oak ECU is a wonder!!

I cant see where it says at the wheels.
Sorry but i still think its at the flywheel. 179 at the wheels add say 10% for transmission losses thats about 197 at the flywheel, that is a lot for the mods.

+1 especially after reading the informative post on another thread regarding bhp / torque at flywheel / wheels

Does it not say on the printout where reading is taken from?

I promise you hand on heart that they were reading at the wheels,
the rest of the rolling road figures from the day when it was done will be in fast ford in the next couple of months.

the rolling road man said it takes about 2-3 hours to set up the dyno for a flywheel readings so when they do rolling road days they do it at the wheels as it is quicker to get the powers runs done.

i'll try to find a video of it if everyone wants to?

what have i got to gain from lieing about the figures?

I don't think anyone is suggesting you are lying, I'd be more inclined to think the RR fella was!! Your car must have something else done to it though if it managed that power at the wheels! From what has been said, it must be producing in excess of 200bhp at the fly!

nope all its had done is the cat back with two silencers removed and the induction kit.

tbh i'd like to get it on another rr as each one is different.

the rolling road was spot on for what everyone was expecting there were a few surpises like a mk5 zs which runs like a bag of nails made 80bhp or 90bhp i think. My best mate car went on the rolling road and made excalty the same that it had made up in jamsport a few weeks pervious

Yeah, it goes to show the variances all over. Best thing is to get it done before and after the mods to understand what you've gained. Something I will take forward with me

Do the magnecor leads and plugs make a big difference? Where's the best place to get them (cheapness wise)?

ive been told they dont make a differnce, only in colour.

ford have put good ones in as the ST is supposed to be a "sporty" hatchback type car. so the stuff they will have built the car with will be good.

in terms of cheapness, not sure, try pumaspeed or fleabay.

Thanks for that, don't think I'll bother now!! Prices I've seen are about £50 for leads and £50 for plugs that £100 could be spent more usefully elsewhere then!

I had Magnecor leads and Iridium plugs on my last ... No difference at all to the performance.

IMO, they are only needed on modified engines, i.e. re-mapped, dreamscience ones etc.

OR

If you have an idleing prob, in which case there must be a deeper problem.

True, the earth strap helped the idling problem more IMO
