But obviously when the car is in production it's taken directly from the fly

A car out the factory is at the fly

A car on the rolling road is at the wheels and flywheel can be calculated

The most accurate is a bench dyno where its just the engine sat on a bench.... with a dyno

There is a couple of different rolling roads as well
Electromagnetic, sits in 2 rollers and an electromagnet creates resistance, can start to become inaccurate after a number of runs, as the electromagnet gets hot and doesn't create as much resistance as its meant to

An inertia one is a single drum that you balance on, its weighted already and is more accurate
They have one at track n road in essex, its a certain one cant remember exactly but 1 of only 4 in the world and about as accurate as you can get

As explained to me anyways.....

Flywheel - Power the engine actually makes
Wheel - Power the car can actually put on the road

The power leaving the engine will not all reach the road, some power will be lost through the gearbox and drivetrain as these parts use power to move, usually around 10-15% is lost

Surely an upgraded box will generally be heavier and tougher and actually use up more power??

Milltek Manifold and Sports Cat, Powerflow Cat-back, 60mm TB, K&N 57i, 200 Spec cams, Mountune Inlet...

191bhp, 167 Torque on Jamsport Rollers.

Apparently my cat back was very restrictive so I've since changed it to a Milltek so hoping to have a little more now. After the change of cat-back:

0-60 Sprint: 6.91 Seconds (might have shaved a tad off that too with another go )
