finally got the car! 2 and a half months! had a bit of a crap ride with my dealer but its finally here and i am happy with it! only done 115 miles in it, but its loosening up nicely-
handling seems great, lot of fun, as do the brakes-very firm and controlable. Realy need more time with the handling after its done a few miles but on first oppinions, very good-feels very grown up, yet a real hot hatch quirkeness to it but also it drives like a much bigger car- st170?! only things made me think was the back feels very light and probable to some lift off oversteer! also it feels twitchy under heavy braking/ i no i have read on here that its very hard to get oversteer but it seems to lean over when you lift off and the line tightens. i'm not goings that quick but it made me think!! hmmmm, as long as your foots down it grips great. obviously everyone on heres gonna shoot me down for saying that, but i will need some time to test the handling out properly once its got a few miles on the clock. cant go to mad!
overall i am very please with the car, its built very well, drives superbly (in fact having driven many st170's you could shut your eyes and it feels like its bigger brother!)
I think it goes well and will probably be as fast as a st170 once its loosened up. overall pretty chuffed !!
going to order my k&n soon-anyone were to get it!?

Chris
thanks guys

Good to hear you're enjoying it Chris, hope it lives up to your expectations!

Interesting comment about the twitchy rear, I guess you've probably read the other thread but I can't say I've experienced it and I'm some 3,500 miles in now. Maybe its just while the tyres bed-in properly, or maybe its just that I'm not driving mine hard enough!

Get some pics up when you can tear yourself away from driving it.

As for the K&N, what are you looking to get, just a panel filter or a cone like the 57i? I'm inclined to avoid an open cone, it might sound great but the engine bay is so cramped that you won't be able to avoid sucking loads of hot air in, unless you get some sort of heat shield and/or cold air feed. Might be worth "investing" in something like a Pipercross Viper or wait until the K&N Typhoon comes out...

Either way, most normal online shops should stock it, you could also try Torquesteer, they specialise in Ford ST & RS bits.

also it feels twitchy under heavy braking

Yes! Finally someone who shares my doubts!!
Iīll get mine TOMORROW! so I did buy it, despite this issue.
But this breaking thing needs some investigation. Iīve already thought that the brake power distribution might be somehow defective, that would fit pretty good into the picture.

(btw. also the 4500 radio failed during my test-wekend (the CD suddenly got terribly noisy) but also that could not change my mind )

Excellent, enjoy yourself!

Can't fault the handling, managed to keep up with some much more powerful cars at Cadwell Park

Read your hand book the tyres need 500 miles to bed in.Also the brakes and pads will also need some time. You won,t get it to oversteer unless you really really try hard. Are you sure that the CD was broken or was it the volume compensator that increases the volume the more noise the car makes?

Absolutely sure! I have quite some knowledge and experience with Car-Audio
What I didnīt know is, that the 4500 has a volume compensation! I thought I have noticed it during the test drive, but since I didnīt find a microphone and the radio didnīt look very sophisticated at all, I thought it must have been imagination.

Its not that sosphicated, the radio just gets louder depending on how quickly the car is going, not how noisy it is in the cabin!
