Hey, as from previous posts i have noticed that the power steering should be cherry red.

i have checked mine and it is black, i have lowered the car 35mm on eibach springs, could this affect the way the steering works (ie. more strain)

im gonna get it changed, but whats the best way to do it? never had to change the pwer steering fluid before.

Cheers...

ST cooks the PAS fluid, very poor cooling.

If it's brown/black change it.

I don't think an additional oil cooler for it would go a miss, would take some plumbing in, but worth it, especially if you're using it for track days etc etc.

If I still had mine I would be in the powertrain dept. at work re-engineering some Jag parts to fit.

Just like I'm currently plumbing in a Freelander 2.2 Diesel Intercooler into my Fez

Someone I know and Jamsport (*cough*copied*cough*) have developed a cooling system for the STs PAS system. Replumbed it and all that. Mine is inky black too.. really should get that changed lol

General driving and a few track days have put paid to my STs once pristine PAS fluid. Its boiled over through the cap and turned black so needs doing.

PS was I the only one confused at the topic title and subject? lol

Onto cooling system.

I would be thinking along the line of swapping the water radiator for the one off a 1.6 auto which has the cores built in for the auto trans fluid (which is PAS fluid as you know).
Then link in the low pressure return from the rack to the pump - JD

I'll ask my friend if I can copy over the details of his system.

Yes, I'd be interested to see that, I know you can get stand alone little oil coolers, they may have used one of those.

It does need something though, especially if it's used alot.

Ok he does a PAS relocation system and a cooling system.

The relocation system is best for people with things like the Cosworth inlet because with the normal reservoir it melts against the inlet or throttle bodies but also helps against the leaking they're prone to.

this kit will now alowe you to hold more fluid, and a more air in the top of the tank to prevent over boiling and also is not attached directly to the block.

Here's some pics to explain it:

His cooling system seems to be a pipe, a cooler and some clamps. Again I'll post the pics to do the explaining lol

Thanks Pink, that's what I was thinking of only on the Jags we call it a bog brush as it's got loads of little vanes on to further aid cooling.

That's a well designed/fitted mod
