What's your views on dropping a 2.3 lump into the ST (all opinions are appreciated whether good or bad)?

Cheers

Well Conserving the ST engine is already a 2.0 Litre, I think it you were going to do an engine conversion, to stick a bigger engine in than a 2.3 Litre...

Its not much of a big increase. If your looking to do it, I would suggest sticking in a 3.0 Litre lump or something like that, Make it worth while...

I’m not sure if that could be done or not, But defiantly go with a bigger Engine than a 2.3 Litre if you were planning on doing something like this.

2.3 should be a straight swap it's the same engine basically.
IIRC it might be a tad taller but if you're using a K&N it shouldn't be a problem.
You would need to carry over all the ancilleries from your ST engine plus the ST's flwheel, clutch and starter motor. And I would imagine you would need to use the ST's manifolds as well.
This engine would definately benefit from a larger throttle body that the standard ST's though.
I think you'd only be looking at about 175BHP though, without cams/cats/exhausts etc etc but it would have a much improved great spread of torque compared to the 2.0.

You could find yourself a written off Mazda 3 MPS and stick the engine in out of that - 265 BHP straight out of the box.
Has anyone done this yet?

Good luck with the gearbox though

Don't worry, when you bust the gearbox just fill it with sawdust and chop it in quick.
That's what I did with my old Rover 214SEi
