Can someone test their boot release and let me know:

1: If the button on the dash will release the boot WITH the engine running but the car being stationary.

2: If the boot release on the key will open the bot WITH the engine running but the car being stationary.

The manual says that it should but mine isn't working and fords are giving me the run around.

Thanks guys

The Boot will not open with the Engine running, even if stationary,It' supposed to be a safety feature, really annoying when I drop my Boy off at kickboxing having to turn off the Engine so he can get his Bag.
Can't help with key opening the Boot with the Engine running as the key is in the Ignition

Have you read the manual?

It says in there that it should open with the engine running if stationary. And it also opens no standard fiestas (New models) but doesn't work on my ST.

I was told by the Dealer that it was a new feature that Ford are incorporating into all new models, I had a Focus before & that boot opened with the Engine running.
Some of the Manuals are also out of Date, Mine has no details about the ST in at all!!!

All the 05 models in the showroom opened with the engine running, my 05 ST wouldn't open.

I think it is REALLY!!! stupid that you have to turn the engine off to let someone in the boot when you drop them off. Honestly, this is a really bad feature if it is the case.

Can anyone else give it a try on theirs just to confirm if it across the board or not?

Thanks

My boot will open whilst the engine is running, if I press the boot release button or use the spare remote control key.

However, the boot release does not work when the vehicle is in motion - for obvious reasons.

Thanks for looking into this for me. I knew it should do it, wouldn't make sense for it not to open when stationary.

Looks like I am back to fords to have a word and get them to check it again then

Cheers Gandalf!

If that is the case then I've also been fobbed off by the Dealer The manual I have does state that it should open if the speed is below 4MPH.

We have both been fobbed off by the looks of it.

I will be ringing them back and they can look at mine again when it goes in for its courtesy service.

Mine won't open with the engine running, whether I press the dash button or the key button (a bit fiddly when its in the ignition). I believe earlier cars were meant to be like this but then Ford saw sense and have since changed it. I'm not bothered about it to be honest, I don't often carry much in the boot.

Mine will not open with the engine running either.....mu manual also says it will work under 4mph. It's a slight pain sometimes but never mind.

Interestingly my wifes 1995 1.6Si is exactly the same, the boot release button only works withthe engine off.

It SHOULD work on ours (it works on my sisters fiesta flame) but nearly every ST has the same problem, personally it really annoys me, I'm going to take it in to be looked at soon.
