it's where the metalic parts of the paint really stand out. Shows best when you have a perfectly smooth surface and the light bounces off the metalic flakes instead of the scratches and imperfections. I't try and get a pic tomorrow if the sun comes out.

You gotta learn the lingo! I wont tell you what ppl on Passion Ford call buftys though...

Rather than a deep, wet glossy look to the paint you'll get, as Micky says, the flake really standing out. Different products are supposed to be good for this and Gareth will always help you sorting out what you want. Thing is I've usually found that in some lights/angles the paint can look deep wet and glossy and other times the flake really pops. lol

my dad was in the car cleaning trade many many years ago, he worked at lots of garages and did the used cars up for sale. Their job descriptions in them days would be a "minter" and he would "mint" a car. and yes a good condition car was called a minter too. Mintin = buftying.
