Im looking to buy a white or blue st but my budget is around £6000 i could maybe stretch slightly above that to £6500 max, all the 's for around the 6k mark and with under 40,000 miles are 2005.

Question is what are the main difference's in the 2005 and 2006 spec.

1. Engine (if any)
2. Exterior
3. Interior

Thanks in advance for you help.

some 2006 versions of the car are the pre facelift!

the engine is the same...

the exterior has different front and rear lights im sure thats all

and the interior is a total new dash and the facelift has a computer that calculates your MPG but the pre facelift has a digial engine temp and fuel gauge that the facelift doesnt have

The only external difference on the facelift is the front and rear lights, as Dan mentionned. The facelift came out for 55 plate, although there are a few 55's and even 06's that will be the pre-facelift. The easy way to tell is that if the front headlights have a bubble on them then it's a facelift.

Other changes that were made on the facelift:

Dials included analogue fuel and temp guages rather than digital ones; an onboard computer which has outside temp, mpg, miles left, average speed and other settings; 1 touch down electric window; gear lever surround and interior door handles are now shiney not matt; vents for side windows were moved onto the dash; sidelights switch on when unlocked (home safe lights); new style cdplayer (prior to late 2007 this was just an updated version of the old one, after that it was a Sony one which doesn't have a CD multiplayer, but does take mp3 cd's); steering wheel airbag reshaped; lane change indicators (1 touch 3 flashes); softer dashboard.

There were also these optional extras on the facelift:

Bluetooth hands free phone with voice control system; portable music connection socket(this was standard for 2007 models onwards, optional before then); electric folding mirrors; rain sensor including auto headlights activation; EATC - Electronic Auto Temperature control; second remote key.

I thought the cams were different in the facelift? At least the pre-faclift has the red ring around the dials which follow your speed Oh and the pre-faclift had a piano black sound around the stereo and light switch but the facelift only has the option of a silver trim round the radio. The pre-facelift has a coin holder lol

Yes the Facelift has a coin holder, not that anyone would use it unless you want your windows putting through lol

was speaking to a bloke in a garage yesterday about this, he said the facelifts are slightly quicker due to a different engine management system
