Hey all, hope everyone is well.

Just a quick question - for the last few weeks my handbrake on occasion will generate no clicks at all when engaging at a standstill, it just smoothly and quietly pulls all the way up, as if i was keeping the button depressed (which i never do, took note of this in the owners manual!)

Could this suggest the cable will need replacing soon?

i always use the button while enaging mine as i was taught to do when learning... is that wrong then?

is it still working then when its silent?

If you have a quick flick through the manual you'll find it on Page 100 - states "Do not press the release button while pulling the lever up."

Unsure what the consequences will be though if you keep doing it.

I have to say I'd never noticed that before, and have pressed the button when pulling it up for the last four years with no problems. Like with Dan, that was the way I was taught to drive, so didn't see any reason why not to.
