I have now got the K&N 57i and have noticed a clear difference in pick up, lack of flat spots and also the great sound .
A guy who I work with has mates working for a place called Collins Performance and he might be able to get me a discount on a re-map. Is it worth doing now I have the K&N and will Ford be able to find out?
If Ford do find out, will they void the warranty completely or as per the K&N, will they just say it only voids it if it directly causes a fault?

Any thoughts guys?

My car's getting fixed under warranty as we speak and it's classed as 'heavily modified' ...But at only 2 years old they owe me an oxygen sensor on warrenty as it breaks on standard 's so don't worry...

im not to sure if they are i read somewhere before that all maps leave a file or something on your ecu. i could be wrong though.

like kaxe says my cars also going in for warrenty work and they know its modded.

yes they are traceable , and any company will always try and use that as an excuse if its engine related ,

might be worth taking two steps back here and asking your self is it worth the remap ? , i relly dont think for the price of a remap (unless your getting them mega cheap) , it would be worth it , if you had a full system , a decat , and even more if you had cams then yeh id say jump at it! , but with just a K&N , i would save up for something else that would be more bang for buck if you know what i mean

ye, i would just wait till you modify something else.

the cars ecu will adjust to the k&n anyway, so you may not benefit as much from a re-map as when you have other mods.

Do your exhaust system and manifold first to see any proper gains, pumaspeed have just reduced the cost of there 182 and 190 kits if you get the parts fitted and mapped off them, they do in house mapping now.

i tend to agree here, with just the K&N its not worth getting the remap done yet save up for some exhaust goodies and cams and then get the remap

they will know you car is modded with the K&N. Depends what goes wrong with your car and then they could say it was K&N or the remap. Yes it is traceable when Ford plug ECU into their system it will show up straight away.
