I've read about folk being able to play MP3s through the car stereo but i cant see any access point to plug anything into. How do i go about getting one, rough cost etc?

It's a facelift although i've only looked at the stereo which is this new one (not the 3 tier one) with a 6cd changer. Haven't really looked beside the handbrake but didn't notice anything there.

Na its not there mines is just an 06 plate though. You can buy FM transmitters pretty cheap but dunno if this works as well.

Do you think something like this would work?
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-kenwood-kos-a200_p-22459.htm#first

I'm always a bit confused where they would fit it in, and why you need a remote control!

looks ok not sure why you need a remote either if it is just for mp3 player you could get something cheaper. that one you were looking at does a lot of things you might never use.not the best on this subject mate i want to get a new stereo but cant be bothered looking

pretty sure it was an option, think I ordered mine as an extra.
The FM transmitters are good, I have had one on prior car, buy a good one and ensure you use high quality batteries as sound goes when batteries go down, sometimes get interference too from other traffic. OR swap the head unit for one that has a socket.

It was an option on '06 models then made standard for '07 on.

You can buy the kit from Ford. It's a Harness that plugs into the back of the head unit and the 3mm Jack input socket that you mount next to the fag lighter by drilling a hole in the console lid.

If you're very lucky you may already have the harness there and it's taped back inside the console lid next to the gear mechanism - if it is you just need the socket and you're away.

Tbh I would go through the hassle of doing what Dave said (cost permitting) It'll be much neater and you'll only need to remember your mp3 player rather than transmitter. Also I suspect the quality is superior than using a FM transmitter and no interference.

P.S my 08 has it

Go for the harness thing from Ford, it's like £13 and a piece of piss to fit.

The 3.5mm jack was standard from 07 onwards, i was going to order it as an option but when I came to order mine they had made it standard

It should be straight forward to fit, just a case of running the wire through from the back of the stereo. Could always mount it somewhere different if you'd prefer it. Seen a few mounted in the glovebox...
