Has anyone noticed if the Parcel shelf on their ST is off centre & catching on the rubber seal thus causing a hole.

I thought it was just mine! I noticed that the shelf would come down a second or two after I'd closed the hatch, then went to investigate and saw the damage. I cut part of the edge off with a stanley knife and it looks and works ok now.

^What he said!^

It was taking ages to download on my work computer, I was getting a bit worried

My ST doesn't seem to have this problem though.

I've not noticed this on mine either. However, I have the shelf out a lot of the time due to carrying tall stuff in the boot. I'll check next time it's in though.

You should take it back and get the seal replaced and possibly a new shelf depending on what is actually causing the problem.

ST going back on Thursday for replaced seals, hopefully new parcel shelf, ecu upgrade, creaky clutch pedal,& knocking steering column. That should keep em busy for a bit.

Don't get your hopes up on the squeeky clutch! It doesn't seem to matter what you do to it the squeek comes back after a while. The strange thing is mine doesn't squeek all the time, just when it feels like it!

Perhaps I've just been lucky here so far. Like you describe when mine was squeaking it was only intermittent. I took mine in and had it greased about 6 weeks ago, and since then the squeak hasn't some back. In that time I've drove about 1500 miles. How far had you gone before it started squeaking again?

I can't remember how far I got before it started squeeking again? I know it's ready for greasing again......time to get out with the WD40, I just bought a new can so at least I have the straw now! Lost the one off my old can which made it really difficult to get to the clutch spring properly.

I check my seals where the parcel shelf goes......all looks fine to me at the moment.

I've done nearly 9000 miles now since March and touch wood everything seems fine (long may that continue!)

Well I got my ST back this evening, with mixed results.
I won't be too critical because I have no real Mechanical knowledge, here goes:

Creaky clutch fixed (for how long)
ECU Upgrade a definate improvement
Steering column knock exactly the same, they couldn't find anything wrong, so loosened the suspension bolts & retorqued them!! I am sure there was logical thought process
Parcel shelf & split rubber, beleive it or not even though I booked the car in last Monday & showed them the fault, Today they decided to order the parts & my ST has to go back next week!!!

If you don't mind me asking? What did they do to resolve the problem (apart from replaceing the seal? Was it a new parcel shelf, and, without stating the obvious, does it just sit as it should now, without any rubbisng??
