Hi, just had the car into the garage to check over the gear selection problems I ve been having. Wont always go into first the first time of asking, also when chaning gear theres seems to be some kind of obstruction half way across the shift in most gears. if you change from 3rd to 4th around 3.5 there appears to feel like a pole catching the gear selector.

The clutch was replace under warranty at 6000 miles with outout further problems until now at 16000 its becoming a pain.

The mechanic who is a friend and a good guy mentioned that the gear linkage had been glued on, sounds like a cowboys been at the car. Could this sound right? Any other thought would be greatly appriciated.

Replace the linkages, that's your problem right there.
