Few of you already know. Just thought I'd post up a few pictures so you guys can see the damage to her

Its defaintly a write off, but good news, they are paying out. However the premium will rise as the mods I had on her wernt declared.
Lesson well learnt I think. In the future I will most defaintly insure all the mods I do because its just not worth it..

Breaks my heart to look at it

Argh, and there they are.

Haha Funny

everyone asks me that. Bascially was going round the bend, and the back out compeltly went, So I traveld down the road going side ways for a while, then tried to snatch it back round, which the spun me the opposite way. Then I hit that nice mans fence, and my car flipped to where you see it

I know, They must of only had a quick look at it. As it was lowerd 45mm as well. However they didnt say/see anything when they were reading out my list of mods.

They seem to think I have a full system exhaust though, so I told them its only a back box which it is.

I don't mean to preach and sorry if I have got the wrong guy here but were you saying before how annoying it is not being able to get insured on an ST?

Imagine how I feel seeing this having paid 2k, 1.4k, 1.2k, 800, 650, on my old 1.1 litre saxo before making the step to a quicker car, you haven't insured mods and lost the back end of your car in what looks like a 30mph zone.

Glad to hear your ok though, it's only metal, you cannot be repaired. What car are you thinking of next?

I completely understand what your saying. I think the same, I say to all my mates its mugs like that who make insurance go up so high. And I've just done it myself.

It was a national road. And The truth is, no bullshit, I wasn’t going that quick. I recently purchased them black alloys and the guy said they were slippery cheap tyres. I just recently had my car lowered as well.

I have no idea how quick I was going round the bend, All i know is I had been round it quicker. I wasn’t expecting anything like that to happen as I went round it.

Depends on how much I get paid out mate, I’m looking to get a Zetec S now as its the nearest thing to an ST. But we will have to see eh.

Cool man, cheers for not biting my head off. Check out the Diesal ZS's apparently they are as quick as ST's in-gear.

Prime example why i insist on going for good tires , at the end of the day it is the only thing holding your car to the black stuff ,
Glad to hear your ok mate, could have been a lot worse , imagine if you spun off into a path of a truck ,
I’m not going to rant on about how you should of insure your mods , but you were lucky they payed out
Its crashes like that , that makes you take two steps back and think that could have been a lot worse and you could of potentially killed yourself or your mates , it really doesn’t take a lot.
Good luck wit the next car

My mates focus , he was not speeding , but dint know the road , and a dear ran out infront of him , one swerve later , he was of the road and down a bank into a tree , he limped out of that one. . .

Very glad that no third party was injured.
I can only go on the above evidence, you said the back end stepped out and the tyres were cheap (tread looks ok from pics, can't see rears fully) and you have been around that bend faster ! It takes some doing to loose control of a car on a bend in the absence of ice/oil/diesel, even with rubbish tyres, it doesn't matter what the Speed Limit is, this doesn't mean you Must drive at or above it nor around the bend at the suggested speed.

I know you really like you car and modding it, but I really think it is not time for you to move up in terms of power, I want to ensure and am sure the rest of the forum will agree that we what to keep hearing from you.

Though it doesn't matter what tyres you have fitted (a bad workman blames his tools etc etc) an experienced driver knows that it's slow in fast out on any corner.
That's exactly why young lads have to pay £000's for car insurance and I pay £200. Quite right as well.
Just very lucky someone's kid wasn't on that corner on his bike.

To be honest I’m sick of people blaming young drivers ,

It’s not only insulting to those “young drivers” that can actually drive rather than thinking there the best driver in the world, it’s also one of the most over looked stereo typical things to say . Now im not blaming those who have mentioned it in this post , but just the general tone about the younger generation.
Im 19 so im a “young driver” , but yet iv had both my cars to the track , keep it well maintained and know how to handle it , and how to drive it with in a safe limit without putting anyone else at excessive risk (I mean by that , these are cars , they are in general dangerous things), but driving out of your limits (usually the drivers limits are exceeded before the cars ability to perform are) is stupid. And have you seen the amount of young drivier that are in motorsport and are doing well? Dave Weston , he finished 14th in the ulser rally ,he has just turned 19. .
On the road , care has to be taken as you really can’t tell what the conditions are around a corner.
Statistics show that us “young drivers” do make up a good % of crash figgers , and il put my hands up , imo its down to lack of experience behind the wheel and 99% it is , speed is near the bottom for the cause of a collisions , look at Norway do any of you guys/girls know the test they do ! , 1. It’s cool 2. Its almost, if not at the same level of test/course as an advance driving course is to us over here! , and before you say anything , its working
“There has been a remarkable decrease in the number of fatalities in the 15-24 age group. There has also been a decrease in the >65 and 0-14 age groups. On the other hand, fatalities in the 25-64 age group increased up until 2000, before decreasing over the last few years.”
http://www.internationaltransportforum.org/jtrc/safety/targets/Performance/TS3-Norway.pdf

I think the tests need to be address, if it works in Norway, it will work in the UK , and maybe instead of the police/government just saying young drivers are bad , maybe do something about it!

ive always agreed with my dad who said that learner drivers should be taken out on a skid pan so they can learn how to control the car in extreme situations.

I generally agree with Jack, the driving test should be harder, yes, advanced lessons after so many years, yes, etc etc but the underlying problem in the UK is attitude (UK is full of oiks/chavs/wannabees) and complete lack of road policing. Am sure oin Norway people have a lot more respect for their country, the people and their culture.

Didn't mean to offend Jack , I know its not all young drivers, but I used to think the same when I was 18/19, 'it aint all young driver who are bad!' We're all put into that category of bad young driver and it never goes away just the bad ones making it worse

I cant see that pdf, I aint got adobe atm, but is it anything like Finland? 2 years of leaning (i think) before you can drive and you have to go on skid pans and all sorts of advanced stuff, and agree it should be introduced here
