hi everybody

i have just joined the forums as i am looking to buy a fiesta ST. i went to a local ford dealership and i found an 05 fiesta ST. is there any difference between the 05 editions and later models? also is there anything in particular i need to look out for ie faults?

thanks

matt

the 05 was the last reg before the facelift, thats what i bought! the facelift has a computer that tells you the MPG and has different dials, the different lights and apparently is quicker but thats not always the case as mine is faster than most standard

i havnt had any faults with mine other than the ECU update that might need to be done, i would ask that if your going to buy it from ford they should do it!

hope this helps and im sure others will add to what i have missed

thats great thanks for the help. ive booked a test drive for next week so i can see what theyre like. ive pretty much made up my mind that i want one i will try and get a slightly newer 06/07 then. are they expensive to run because ive heard mixed views about them or does it just depend on how you drive it?

thanks again

matt

Not technically true, there are a few 55 plates such as mine which are pre-facelift

thanks tez thats great help thanks. yeh im an apprentice mechanic so i reckon i could do alot of the work myself. my insurance quote is for about £830 which isnt really cheap but im willing to pay it to drive an ST. i have spotted a few STs between the £6000- £7500 with pretty low mileage. im really looking forward to getting an idea what the speed and handling of the car is on saturday when i go for the test drive

Dont worry about the speed and handling you can make it a hell of a lot better, i thought the car felt a bit flat compared to my old mk6 RS2000, but a filter and flexi freed it up a bit, seemed to rev a lot easier, more mods planned when the warranty runs out.

Induction kit was my first mod, k&n works well, eibach springs make the car sit better, coil overs if money isnt an issue. Its up to you depending on your cash flow.
