Hey All,

So Ford has decided to bring Fiesta to America, and I was hoping I could get some input from y'all who've had them around for awhile. From my impressions it can become a nice touring car that has a healthy tuning community to bring in 6-7second 0-100kmph; so long as it's an .

But for the States it looks like they're only releasing Fiestas with the baseline engine for now. So is it going to be underpowered and unable to properly tune?
And how does the Fiesta baseline compare to cars like the Fiat Sedici? I've driven the Suzuki SX4 version in the States, and fun as the car was it had absolutely no guts when it came to low end power and climbing hills.

Low end power's pretty important in the States as we have a lot of highway on ramps that are short and uphill. Along with all the a**hats who'd love to squeeze you off the road if you can't hit 100kmph fast enough.

So how is the power on the Fiestas, and how is their longevity? Last time America got them it wasn't a success, and somewhere along the line Pintos came into being. From what America's come to expect is that any four-banger (excluding Hondas) engine is going to slowly die and lose torque in a couple of years. America has especially come to resent I4 engines coming from the Detroit 3.

Wrong, right, somewhere north of Scotland?

Hi there and welcome from across the pond!

The new model of Fiesta that has recently been released does not have a ST in its range, so I think for now that the 1.6 petrol engine is the largest one available here in Europe (120 PS) or the 1.6 TDCI

The Fiesta ST model that most of us on here have is the 2.0 litre Duratec model which produces a standard 150 PS. Its a tough engine and fairly easy and inexpensive to squeeze more power out of it. This is not an engine that I can see being migrated over to the current range as it does not fit in with economy and emissions targets that are getting more strict by the minute! If Ford do produce a sporty Fiesta, I think we can expect a turbo charged 1.6 engine.

The European Ford engines are pretty reliable to be honest, the Duratec has been especially good and I think that now a lot of our models are built in Cologne in Germany and the Focus and Fiesta have become very popular in the UK, the Focus having a superb chassis and build quality.
Can't say if the US will build to the same standard, it would be very disapointing if they don't!

What are you driving at the moment then?

Hello, you're getting the 120PS VVT spec engine which is fitted to the Euro spec'd Zetec-S model ( go to ford.co.uk to see it)with either five speed manual or six speed auto. It's not a conventional auto with a torque converter though it's the VW group DSG clutchless manual with a different name.
This is a very good engine, very reliable. Just don't thrash them when they're cold!

You should be getting the ST spec when it's released (it's a long way off in Europe yet - some people are even convinced there isn't going to be one LOL) which will be the same 1.6 four pot but with a turbo pushing around 180-200PS and with DSG standard. I think you will get the three-door shell for this model when it comes.

Two cars for the family, a '98 Taurus and a '07 Mustang. The Mustang is great and of course here in the States we love to tune them.

But with the Taurus dying and a need for 2, we're looking around. So far we're looking at: Fusion, Mazda6, or the Fiesta. I figure we can't really go wrong though. We're leaning towards the Fusion because the V6 version has a discount for the company I work for. But 30/40mpg-US?

I've checked out a few Mountune suppliers and doesn't show any shipping to the US. But here we have Roush and Saleen, both of which live on the Mustang community and will probably reach out to the Fiesta if it starts off strong enough.
