Hey everyone...first off i want to say a massive to HI to you all...and i love my new ST!! Only got it a few days ago...its got everything i could want...heated seats, full leather, voice control and all that polava and the handling is immense! Right now to my conundrem.....ive had my fair share of decent cars considering im only 21! First car was a saxo 1.4 furio...and that was a atrocious! Haha...my next car however wasn't...it was a MK4 golf 1.8T GTi...now i had that remapped to about 200bhp..and let me tell you, S!@T off a shovel isnt the word!! WOW!! Then i went down the sensible road and bought a 320cd BMW coupe...the torque in tht car was rather fun...and the old RWD was scary on rainy days.... Now i was just on the slip road going on the M62...i was behind a Corsa 1.2 Twinport (dont know much about corsas)...and we were both doing 30mph....so we booted it...in 3rd...and the corsa was pulling away slightly up until bout 4-5 rpm!?! Is this right guys....or has the corsa had somthing done to it? I couldn't hear an exaust...and i was shocked at how long it took me to overtake...and i did overtake him (just about)...I know ST's arent known for their straight line speed...but come on...a 2.0 150BHP engine...against a 1.2 pos 90bhp engine? And mine is completey standard! Help is needed guys...THANKS

sometimes its down to the driver, he may have got the power on before you and also may have been in 2nd and he had a lead on you, that all adds up significantly. The standard ST won't pull much at 30mph in 3rd neither, mine does ! It has two issues (1) restrictive air intake so get a K&N and (2) weighs several tons Otherwise it is a great car, enjoy. and welcome to our great forum too

Hey there Raymond, you never know the Corsa might have been in 2nd gear and so might pull away quicker than the in 3rd. I don't think you have anything to worry about matey, if you are concerned have the car checked out at a rolling road and get the results. There are so many factors to consider when challenging another car to a duel, I would warn against racing though. Much better to have your car in one piece than in a ditch, or worse! Enjoy owning your Fiesta , they're cracking cars and I'm sure you'll love every minute EDIT: Yep, I agree with Steve, and we have both posted at the same time too!

Aye...i was thinking that...2nd gear!!!! Just checked parkers...and a 1.2 has got 78bhp!! Haha!! Ahhh i wasn't racing...i was building up a considerable amount of speed to join the motorway ! Im starting to enjoy my ST now...it's a fun little thing! K&N 57i is definatly on Santas list then!

How do you know it was a 1.2, the badge could be hiding something, a friend of mine knows a lad up here with a corsa with a cavalier turbo engine in running about 240 bhp, and beats most things in the dry, in the wet its not so good. Even the 1.8 sri has 123 bhp, and 0-60 in about 8 secs. The new sri has a detuned vxr engine 148 bhp, 0-60 in 7.6 secs.

To get the best from the engine you need to give it some heavy abuse right up to the redline. Going 30mph you should have been in second to get the best from it.
The last car you had was a Turbo diesel, i had a 1.9tdi ibiza with 180bhp and most importantly 280ft/lbs of torque, peak torque was from around 2100rpm and it flew from low rpm. You just need to adjust your driving style.

The fez needs 3500+ revs to get going
Plenty of corsas try it on they only succeeded when they have a deathwish or drive like an idiot
